Wireless headphones and compatibility with home network
I'd love a pair of wireless headphones, possibly a pair of Sennheiser RS120's.
However my adsl is already distributed round the house to my laptop on a wireless network, and i use a videosender to watch sky in bed from time to time. Would I have problems intoducing yet another wireless gadget, or would I have to switch off, say, the videosender if I want wireless music?? I can't figure it out, any help appreciated. Thanks, Al |

it all depends on what frequencies your equipment transmits on, your wireless network should be on 2.4Ghz dont know about your video sender depends on quality, low price units transmit on anywhere from 49Mhz upwards and top end units also on 2.4Ghz with 4 selectable channels to prevent interference from your network channels but all equipment should have a label with frequency info on it somewhere, most top spec wireless headphones operate around 834Mhz so should not interfere with your wireless network its the videosender that is the unknown, post info of videosender please

Thanks, my videosender is a Total Control unit from Argos - item number 534/3786 - cost about £40. Has 3 switchable channels on the transmitter.
Thanks again, Al |

hi al, had a search for specifications on your sender but with no joy, does it list the frequency specs in the manual ? or does anybody else reading this thread know the frequency range

Do they still sell infrared cordless headphones?
I bought some years ago, and they worked really well. No interference, but you needed reasonable line-of-sight between the 'phones and the sender. Steve |

Infrared still available, there's a line up of a few different pairs (wireless, and infra) in this month's T3 actually.
I think I may just have to go and look, and see if I can get a refund if I get incompatibility. |

just found out it does work on 2.4Ghz so if it works fine with your wireless network then you will not have a problem with headphones providing they are working on a frequency considerably lower ie 834Mhz
found frequency range of Sennheiser RS120 863 ... 865 MHz or 926 ... 928MHz...... so go for it

I have been using the Sennheiser HDR 85 wireless phones for a couple of years with no problems. Can use them halfway down my road
