On my last birthday somebody hid a slice of birthday cake under the sofa and then my dog ate it.

Haha yes is filthy but not enticing or in anyway erotic some of the sexiest songs are the ones in which someone isn't baiscally saying sit on my face and say you love me

Big Rihanna fan, but this is one of the worst things she has ever put her name too. Terrible track, as is Cockiness.

Easily one of the worst songs Rihanna has ever done.

I like this song one of the better on TTT imo, would have done well in the US charts if they'd released it (maybe top3).

Why do people that hate RnB/hip hop songs even be Rihanna fans anyway? On a Rihanna album, you WILL get songs like Birthday Cake and Cockiness. If you don't like that type of music, listen to Lady Gaga or David Guetta or Katy Perry's albums, which don't have urban songs on them.

What a bizarre post

Yes...that's right.. Anyone who dislikes "Birthday cake" hates urban music... They can't possibly like urban music and not like "Birthday cake" ..

It's got nothing to do with the songs being cheesy... it's because they're urban... Because every urban song is the same, and if you don't like one - you can't like any others, and should buy Gaga's album instead

Posting for the sake of it....

What was his point then...?
Quite clearly he believes anyone who doesn't like corny songs like "Birthday cake" hates urban music..and can't be a Rihanna fan..

He said "If you don't like that type of music, go listen to Gaga"
As if "Birthday cake" and "Cockiness" are the benchmark for all urban music and represent EVERY urban song.

Yes... I don't like one or two songs on Rihanna's album, I'll buy Gaga's instead next time, as clearly R&B isn't for me

I see, so the song got on the Hot 100 due to airplay alone? It's weird that people would be able to listen to a song hugely on the radio and yet never be able to buy it...

Just a suggestion - you might want to change the colours of your site.

That harsh contrast between white text on a black background has made my eyes go really funny, don't know about anyone else.

Downloads of the minute long album version would have also contributed to its Hot 100 appearance!

A bit off-topic, but I think you've been a bit unjust to Beyonce's 4 album. Almost the whole album is a grower, and some of the most 'immediate' songs (e.g. 'End of Time') are completely inferior to the power ballads ('I Care', 'I Was Here' and 'Start Over') after many listens. But that's just my opinion, and you probably listened to the album quite thoroughly before you wrote the review, and in general your reviews are all really well written
