Your favourite Tardis interior
1. Hartnell - Big, clinical with a living area and apparent lab futuristic console big inner doors.
2. Troughton - Distinctly smaller with less defined roundalls (they looked more like painted on roundalls) same console same inner doors 3. Pertwee - washing up bowls same console big inner doors 4. Pertwee - Large roundalls same console 5. Baker - Inherited Pertwee console room and original console 6. Baker - Secondary console room and small wood panelled console and a sort of partitioned/corridored inner door. 7. Baker - New corinthian pillared walls and new roundalls (based on the Hartnell version) and new console with less detail. Rest of Tardis interior now matched console room design including huge inner door. 8. Davison - Inherited from Baker and the introduction of the Time Lord recall signal (hexagonal light) only used in dire emergencies. Same inner door 9. Same console room new console, four monitors, loads of keyboards and now a seemingly continuously flashing 'recall signal' unchanged inner door. 10. McGann console room, rusty victorian with a H G Wells/Jules Verne type of console and central column/time rotar which now stretches to ceiling and is apparently the source of the wheezing/groaning sound! Huge cathedral interior now housing the eye of harmony. Cushing movie style inner door 11. Eccleston - Coral themed, small hexagonal roundalls, grated flooring, beaten up round console with a time rotar going to the ceiling. Cushing movie inner doors 12. Smith - Multi layered, visible corridors, steam punk/random console, enclosed time rotar with glass sculpture. Inner door design continues. I had a quick skiz at DS thread history and it seems that the last thread on this was in 2008 but there was no poll attached. So here goes! THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A POLL BUT DS WENT MENTAL WHEN I SUBMITTED IT AND NOW I CAN'T GO BACK! ![]() ![]()

I really liked the McGann TARDIS, however brief, but also the wooden panelled interior of the secondary console room. From the new series, I love the current interior.

The McGann one for me. If I try to imagine living in the TARDIS, that's what I want it to look like. It speaks well of the Seventh Doctor that he made those modifications.

Difficult!
I do love the traditional TARDIS interior and I guess the version they used, post Five Doctors, is my favourite version. I'd love the next console room to be a large, updated version . . a fan did this, and its what my dream console room would be. |

Any of them that have a bit of texture. The last place someone like the Doctor should live is somewhere that looks like a sterile lab.

McGann's without a doubt. It's so brilliant, atmospheric, HUGE, like a whole world.
I mean just look at THAT! http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?start...12,s:121,i:148 |

I'd like the next one to be a similar style but multi-level. Wouldn't have to be white, but the console, in particular, should look sleek and functional. And another thought... I'd like to see some of the other rooms in the TARDIS in a story. e.g. the swimming pool and accomodation rooms... where do they eat... how do they eat? Some more hints at what life aboard the TARDIS really like (like Night Time in the TARDIS but incorporated into a story). |

There's a great Big Finish story where one of the 8th Doctor's companions ends up travelling back through the Doctor's timeline and so travels with the 6th Doctor for a time. Her first sight of the 6th Doctor's console room is 'Goodness, its so small'. Which I thought was funny! |

I always liked the 80's one, but after the new console was put in after The Five Doctors, I liked it even better! Shame it was so underused during McCoy's time in the role.

Voted for the Ecclestone one, nice and dark, post Time war run down.
The fan boy in me would like to see a return to the more classic white/roundel look, obviously on a bigger scale than the small classic set. Was slightly disappointed with the Matt Smith era one, whilst it is nicely lit, I'm not sure why the Tardis would have things slapped on it like typewriters and other 'earth' junk if it had just 'rebooted' afresh. I can understand it on the Time war Eccleston one. But hey Ho and all that.

My top 3:
1. Smith - having been on the set especially, i have to say the attention to detail is just breath taking! It perfectly encapsulates the fairy tale theme of series 5 also. 2. McGann - really gorgeoues. 3. Davison 2 - there is just something so pleasing about the liner simplicity of the design. |
