I read that after following a link today to Vanity Fair, 2007. Nicole made this comment, which I thought was odd:

If the courts awarded joint custody and the children wanted to live with Tom I believe they would still be heavily influenced by the Church. Some people who have left the Church and published (on-line) their experiences of their time within it have said that anyone connected to the church who then leaves can be labelled a "suppressive person" and contact is forbidden.

Hypothetically, if Nicole brought in lawyers re any awkwardness or sole custody the children would still have access to Tom / their religon and could potentially follow this doctrine. Perhaps Nicole agreed to minimal custody in order to avoid being given this label and be able to maintain some sort of access to her eldest children.

Sometimes even money isn't enough to fight a (crazy) organisation like that.

Re Katie: In all the early photos of TomKat, Katie looks genuinely happy so I'd like to believe that she was swept off her feet by one of her childhood icon /crushes rather than coldly entering a business arrangement.

Maybe they were heavily influenced by their father and all the other people in their lives who bought into and practised the weird and sinister ways of Scientology. They must have been totally brainwashed, moving to Australia part time and out of whacko California..anything goes...land could have seen as terrifying.

Apparently Nicole has a better relationship with Isabella who, of course, is a grown woman now.

I like Nicole, I've always admired her dignity and it's great to see her so happy with Keith and their two girls.

I thought Katie was an idiot when she got involved with him, nothing is worth selling your soul for, but having Suri (I'm one of those who thinks she has nothing of Tom Cruise in her) sets off those maternal warnings of what your child is being exposed to.

If you agree to marry someone in exchange for money and career advancements, don't you have yourself to blame if you subsequently don't like it?

I agree that she has lost her sparkle though, she hasn't looked happy for ages, at least not in the photos I've seen. I just can't cheer her on like most people seem to be doing, as if you are calculated enough to go for that deal (which many others turned down) then what kind of person must you be.
