Check your original 'Out Here'. Orange at it again!

Some folk, myself included have been getting charged for what should be free texts. This is the original Out Here offer on Orange Just Talk. Orange tried to strip it down from 5 free texts to 3 free texts a day in late 2002 however quickly withdrew their intentions. Looks as if either something is wrong or their at it again. If you have the original offer please check it out and complain if true. Please do not confuse the original Out Here offer with the most recent one which only lasted a year at a time and is now finished.

What did Orange say? Was it a mistake or have they stopped giving the free texts?

They were not in a position to say what could be wrong except that you should call back in a few days when the phone records would show anything. If there was a problem they would refund costs. Just how many people are aware at all?

I remember when that happened in 2002, to be fair to Orange they owned up to the mistake and quickly refunded any credit which was used. There is probably some software problem at there end.

If they had changed the policy on "Free" texts then , surely the operator would have known. They would only need to check the phone records if you were not supposed to be charged but were claiming you had been. That makes it sound like a technical problem .

As no-one else has said they have a problem, I guess you have been unlucky.

As jandt64 says, if you have recently purchased Group Saver then this cancels your free texts. But as it warns you about this you would know.

I hope things get sorted soon for you.

Nope, certainly not the only one. Plenty of others over at uk.telecom.mobile with same. Orange are claiming its a tech error that's been active since 16th November. They have already refunded one person the equivalent of 5 free texts a day since this date plus a bonus 30 for the next month. Sounds like a good benchmark to me for when I call tomorrow. With regards text saver. I've only ever purchased the original Out Here offer which was an incredible £15 back in 2000. That's 4 years and 5 free texts a day. At least £730 worth of free text messages....not a bad return.

I'd always shrugged off comments about Orange going the wrong way but I have to admit I can now see what these folk were getting at. I called CS today and was credited for the charged texts I'd had up until the 18th. No more info than this except the problem should have been resolved on the 20th. I have again been charged today so obviously not. Appears Orange are having real problems with the original Out Here and text saver options. From what the young lady was saying it sounds like they have more or less thrown in the towel and suggest I call back every few weeks and have my fees refunded. She even attempted to offer me a refund for my original £15. I said no thank you. Oh dear...

Can't really see them 'throwing in the towel'. Some people will have only applied text saver to their accounts about two months ago! So they ain't going to be please to have to ring orange every few weeks for a refund. It surely cannot be that difficult to solve.
My wife has a text saver to last to April 2006 (combination of text savers done manually!!)
I have two Original Out Here Packages and I ain't going to let them 'die out' without a fight!!

That said this may be a genuine glitch that Orange may well sort out in a couple of days????

I only bought text saver in September and have had it removed, as has my brother. After the grief I went throught originally trying to get it applied I can't be bothered with customer services again.

Bye Orange! Your not getting anymore of my money.

And somewhat bizarrely I have sent 12 text messages today. The first one was free then the next one charged and then the next SEVEN were free. So I got EIGHT free texts today. Well wierd!! Meanwhile my wife has had to pay for all of hers!!!

My wife phoned Orange CS yesterday and they said they'd call back today and refund her the £3-4 she'd been charged for texts. Like myself she has the original 'Out Here' 5 free texts a day for life. This is the text she got this morning:

'Hello from Orange: Thank you for buying text saver. We hope you enjoy all the great text benefits until 24/11/99.'

Now first of all she has not purchased a text saver thingy and secondly what do you make of that date?

Well she will be very old or perhaps dead by the time it runs out!!!!)) (as long as they mean 2099!) (I also don't mean to be disrespectful either!)

Incidentally I have two 'Out Heres' and my wife One Text Saver and they have all been functioning normally today!!

I suppose the great grandchildren could have it but I doubt we will even have mobile phones by then. Most likely some micro chip inserted up our arse at birth. Still I'll leave a note in my will requesting they chase Orange up for the texts. Touch wood we have free texts so far today. Now the refund.

NO.
As for my own situation. Orange have credited my account for having been charged for sending free texts. They will now pop into my account once a fortnight and credit any errors. As above this problem is not due to be sorted anytime soon.
