Is it a big one (fnah!)? I bought one of those Smoothie 2Go jobbies when they were on offer to make smoothies and it's soooo much better that the massive blender I was using before.

My son bought my husband & I one a couple of years ago, never thought I'd use it but I got into drinking bitter gourd smoothies etc. I used to use my blender before but this really does make a better mix.

I too use my blender for smoothies as I really couldn't justify getting a smoothie-maker for something I do so seldomly...

Despite what I said in my post above I should add that I totally agree with you. Only that our smoothie maker was a present I would never have gone out and bought one! It does make a difference but not enough to make me buy one!

In 2006 I bought my Kenwood smoothie maker, it has a stainless steel jug with a black base with a few sparkly bits. I hadn't used it again til last year when I moved into my new place and I took it with me as it suited the colour scheme of the kitchen. Have been using it a few times a week to make smoothies. Delicious - frozen raspberries, mango, apple juice and ice cubes.

When it comes to making smoothies, what's the difference between a blender and a liquidiser....if any?

I don't think there is a difference apart from a smoothie maker has a tap on it! I think 'smoothie maker' was just a marketing ploy, to be honest. I could be wrong though.

It does seem to create a smoother blend - it could be due to the smaller capacity in which it mixes?

The Smoothie2Go I got isn't one of those big ones with a tap, it's a cup that holds around 500ml which you stuff everything into then screw the blade on and click it into the base to whizz up. Really easy to use and you drink the smoothie from the jug you make it in. I've used it every day since I bought it.

I've always been put off the big ones with a tap because they look massive and are fiddly to clean (so I've heard).

They are very easy to clean, but they are big and better to use for larger quantities than for just one serving.
