Unwanted Yahoo Shortcut on Desktop

I rather foolishly attempted to place a shortcut on my desktop so that I could go straight to my webmail spamfolder in order to check nothing goes in by mistake.

I've got the shortcut on my desktop, it doesn't work, and I don't know how to get rid of the wretched thing.

Any ideas.

You would already have to be signed in for it to go straight to your spam folder, if not signed in it should ask you to.

No. I've tried all those. It won't drag, and there is no delete command if I right click.

It seems to be a miniature version of the actual webpage.

Can you move this icon around like your other icons?

You should be able to delete it from your user account desktop settings (the folder where your account is)

something like: C:\Documents and settings\YOUR ACCOUNT\Desktop
or C:\Users\YOUR ACCOUNT\Desktop

and see if there and hopefully delete it.

If you can't move the icon when all the others can be moved then maybe it's not an icon at all but your background has changed with this image being part of that?! stranger things have happened!

You could always try good old System Restore (to a point before this happened)

Thank you, both, for those suggestions. I never thought of System Restore - that should do it.

Still, it's a bit weird that you couldn't delete it though!

Yes, very strange! But it wasn't your normal icon - it seemed to be a copy of the Yahoo webpage - but it may have been a pop-up - anyhow, it was in the top left-hand corner of my screen, and would not drag, or delete. All I could do was drag the double arrow to enlarge it.

I have achieved what I wanted by getting Yahoo to mark any spam as follows - [Bulk] - and direct it to a folder which I have set up marked 'spam' in Outlook Express.

The only reason I want to check my spam is because now and then an email that isn't spam gets misdirected.

Thanks everybody. Job sorted.
