If you have been to the set, recently or a while ago, can you please answer these questions for me?

1) Is the summer holidays a good time to go? (Only free time I have, will probably be mid august )

2) What time should we try and get there for? (Takes a couple of hours)

3) What time do they start work?

4) What days of the week do they work?

5) Does it get really packed with fans? (We were the only ones at Waterloo Road)

6) Do many of the cast stop? (I went to the Waterloo Road set last year and I was very lucky, nearly met everyone even the script writer or they either drove past me)

7) Which members of the cast will most likely stop? (Hopefully David Witts and Jake Wood?)

8) What time do they finish work?

Thanks

I've never actually been to the set but I'm going to try and help you from knowledge I have from visiting other sets

1) Is the summer holidays a good time to go? (Only free time I have, will probably be mid august )

Probably not - it would be a lot busier with other people taking advantage of this too (we found this when visiting the new Waterloo Road set)

2) What time should we try and get there for? (Takes a couple of hours)

(this i cant actually answer)

3) What time do they start work?

I know actors/actresses usually can start work about 7-9 am

4) What days of the week do they work?

It might be different with other soaps - but most of them are every day (especially when they air almost every single day)

5) Does it get really packed with fans? (We were the only ones at Waterloo Road)

Again this depends i think..

6) Do many of the cast stop? (I went to the Waterloo Road set last year and I was very lucky, nearly met everyone even the script writer or they either drove past me)

Depends if they are rude or not - just depends on if they are in a rush or not.

7) Which members of the cast will most likely stop? (Hopefully David Witts and Jake Wood?)

(no idea, sorry about this)

8) What time do they finish work?

I know soaps can finish around 7pm, but sometimes night shoots and filming may trail on so i would say maybe between 5 and 8?

I know I'm not really what you asked for but i hope i've kind of helped you

Never been myself, nor would I - but I would suggest going early doors as the always say in interviews that the actors work long hours and early starts..

If I were to go I would go down to London the night before, get a hotel nearby and get up and to the gates around 6am and take loafs of provisions and a flask of coffee and wear my thermals! I'd probably stay there the whole day ( they gotta go for lunch, go home and some actors might have to start scenes at different times!?)

Although I think it's a tad sad to go stand there I wish you good luck and hope you meet most the cast and you have s good time... Let me know how you get on!

Ps - my ambition is to be an extra on all soaps! Maybe I'm sad as well lol

Hi Chloe how did you get on when you went there? I personally would love to meet Linda Henry more than anyone who plays Shirley as she is my favourite

I'm absolutely sure you aren't allowed to hang around outside the studio's anymore. think the people in the surroundings houses complained.

someone posted about it a while ago

People are still going, and getting their pictures taken with the cast. The police probably intervene when people make a nuisance of themselves and move them on.

Why would anyone wish to stalk people at their place of work?

I'm sure Linda has more than one fan. Mona's not too happy with your comment.

Well I wouldn't call it stalking as such, just many fans of the show's only opportunity to meet the cast, from what I understand it's a lot of young fans who hang about there, in particular the school holidays.

It's not necessarily the best or right way but if the cast are happy to stop it's up to them.

It must be so awful for the cast. I understand that being on TV puts your life in the spotlight, but after long days of filming there must be nothing worse than having a bunch of people hanging around whilst you're trying to go home.

I think that is really off. If the residents have complained and asked the BBC to stop it then they damned well should. Either by instructing the cast that is a disciplinary offence to stop (if actors don't stop and that becomes known, fans will stop coming as they'll be no point), or by asking their Security Guards to politely ask the fans to move on from the Gate or even informing the Police if it isn't on BBC property but is causing a public nuisance.

I know i'm probably coming across as a killjoy but I'm just really aware of how difficult or uncomfortable it could make life for the people that just happen to live close to the set and probably pay a lot in house prices, council tax to do so. I wouldn't want loads of strangers hanging around on my road for hours on end day after day.

Yes, I agree wit this as well. It is the other reason (besides consideration for the residents) I think it should be stopped. Actors work long hours, possibly have a long drive home with lines to learn for the next day and feel obliged to stop and play nice with fans, firther eating into the time they'd have with their families or friends.

Yes I know the argument, they din't have to stop but do they want to have the negative publicity of becoming known as being 'horrible' or not having time for their fans? And it would get out on Twitter or similar.

Plus there is always the danger that one of the fans is a nutter. The girl imprisoned for stalking Rosie Marcel reguarly hung around the gates at Elstree. In fact, that is where she was arrested after putting Marcel through 18 months of hell.

I do agree, I would hate for random people to hang out side my house for hours on end, but it doesn't seem to stop them, the residents must of had it for years and nothing seems to have been done, it's where the buck stops, I would think the BBC would stronger enforce it but it doesn't of seems to work or deterred the actors from stopping.

I remember seeing Rosie Marcel interview for that the girl put her through hell, frightening what some lengths people go too.

Yes and whilst it is impossible to stop that kind of adoration becoming dangerous and turning into stalking how terrifying must it be to wonder if one of the people you are driving past at the gates of your work (somewhere you have to go unlike premieres) day after day is the person sending you and your family death threats, describing wanting to rape you etc, etc.

Now I know that is unfair on the vast majority of fans, those who visit sets and don't but surely it should be a consideration.

I knew elstree had been around for many years, but it says that is was opened in 1927. Didn't realise it was quite that old. You learn something new everyday! Not sure if the housing around the area is more modern or predates the site.

It must be, just think she out now and could be doing it to someone else, that is scary.
