Period Coronation Street
After watching the Coronation Street version of Oliver! I think that it's a shame that Coronation Street could never do a few special episodes where the show is taken right back in time to the early 1900s when the Street was first built.
The set has been developed so much since 1960 it would be nearly impossible to make it truly authentic. Even if they just wanted to use the terraced side of the Street, Number 7 has new brick-work and as for Number 9...Vera's cladding would be unmissable! I think it would be a nice idea for a few spin-offs but I can't see it happening ![]() Afterall, Charles Dickens was often considered to be the soap writer of the Victorian Times! |

It was only after watching the Children in Need sketch that I realisd how multi-taleneted the Corrie actors are.

No, there's enough episodes as it is unless they put them on in favour or some of the present episodes but not as well as.

Spin Offs are not regarded as extra episodes

![]() That would be great...they could easily disguise No7 and No9 when you think about it. I don't know if anyone noticed but there was a clever shot last night on the Oliver! thing, where they were all dancing in the Street...the tree outside the salon all but covered the modern side of the Street. |

I loved the part in the alley with Kirk and Chesney....they've made the backs of houses on Mawdsley Street look very realistic.

The houses are computer generated. The thing that they could have done was colour the back gates in different colours they were all the same colour.

The houses on set behind the street i.e...in the alley?
They are real? When did they build them and why bother if they won't use them? |

With regards to last nights Oliver, I'm not sure exactly how it was filmed (no sort of technical mind here ) but there seemed to be a slightly 'old' look to the quality of the film, does anyone know what I'm talking about or has my tv just gone a bit wonky?

They can easily digitally edit it to make it look dated.
