Dizzy - much be the biggest franchise of the 8bit era. Instantly lovable character, truly memorable.

John Shepard from Mass Effect real great character that stands out, as person that never gives up.

Sephiroth in FF7, for me he is the greatest villain in videogame history.

Rick Dangerous, the 8bit eras Nathan Drake.

And I still remember the guy from the FMV in Need for Speed on the 3DO, whenever I think NFS I think of the classic line "Red lining it all the way and making it pay" which was the video that played out when you got a top time.
Managed to get them both to rank of Major, then Jops got KIA, Jools was inconsolable.

Still think of this gamr every time I hear that line.
I always say Ryan in an Irish accent because of him.

For me though, Maiq the Liar.

I'd agree with those saying GLaDOS, her veiled insults, wit and sarcasm were just legendary. Continuing the theme of mad, female AIs, I'd also like to put SHODAN forward. Running through corridors hearing her mechanical, stuttering voice is definitely...um...memorable, to say the least.

"Look at you hacker, a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors...."

As I'm watching someone LP it, I've been reminded just how funny Simon in the Simon the Sorcerer series was. Brilliantly written and voiced character.

More recently (basically from this year we now look back upon):

Clementine (Darling, ain't she?).

Ro-Fuking-Shard! (AKA Rochard; mostly because the game was so fun {this coming from a guy way past platforming age} and it always got me bellowing "Ro-Fuking-Shard!")
