Did Deana really 'fail' them the eating task?
I know this is old news (well, a few days) but when I watched I didn't quite understand what the housemates were so angry about.
I've seen a few HMs mentioning that Deana failed them the task but was there ever a bigger prize to be won? I was under the impression that the only prize available was the one that Conor was chosen to recieve by the other HMs. Clarification please!

They didn't fail the task, they passed it. That's what's so strange about it.
Because Deana didn't eat her food, she couldn't be eligible for the prize. The rest all passed the task and had to choose which HM would receive the prize. All the HMs, barring Deana, picked Conor, but when the prize turned out to be something less spectacular than they had hoped for they went berserk, blamed Deana for it, even though she had nothing to do with the prize, and started shouting abuse at her. I'm still mystified why Conor was so enraged with her that he was singing about shoving a bladed epilator into her vagina and knocking her out. I still say it has to be one of the most bizarre scapegoating incidents in the history of BB, imo. |

Deana was the only one who failed her part of the task as she didn't eat her food, this meant she couldn't be picked to win the prize. They still won a prize and chose Conor to receive it. They didn't like the prize, but that would have been the prize even if Deana had passed her part.

During the eviction night, Brian Dowling made an odd comment to one of her friends. She said, as a joke, that she would make Deana eat spam for a week. Brian made a comment about it being, "Karma." Karma for what? She didn't cause them to lose the task. Even if she had, which we know she didn't, that doesn't justify the disgraceful way Conor, Arron, Caroline and Becky et al., treated her. The Conor supporters still say it was her fault. I just find the whole incident too strange for words. |

I think they were more angry about how fake she was about the task---gagging and spitting in out when it was just ham and nothing particularly gross. Same with Lydia---gagging over custard!!! That's probably why the two of them were nominated by so many this time.

The fact is, they won the task. They did not fail. Deana had nothing to do with the prize being that one person had to do the shopping list. She didn't pick Conor to win the prize either. None of them had a go at Lydia (after the prize reveal) who, imo, made more of a show of herself eating the custard. At least the cake Deana was eating had a spam and hot chili sauce filling. I don't think, imo, that warranted the foul mouthed abuse and animalistic way they behaved towards her. |

In their own minds they were going to get some kind of wonderful super prize I think they thought it was going to be immunity from noms or only the winners noms counted or something.
Plus the fact Conor saw the prize as a punishment maybe because he is not that good at stuff like that so he thought having to do it and mess it up would embarrasses him (Didn't BB basically do it for him in the end) so he was blaming Deana for his "embarrassment" even before it happened. It wasn't even about what they did or didn't eat even if she ate it they would have found something to get her with. On that she could have eaten the worse thing there she could have eaten a bucket of actual sh!t and they would not have gave her the win and if she did somehow win then they would be making out the shopping list prize was the best thing ever and how dare Deana get it and take control of the house I can image it now "Well I'm not f**king eating anything she brings into this house who does that b!tch think she is telling us what to eat" But no matter what he had it was always going to be Conor who won he could have eaten Strawberry's and Cream and they would have picked him. |

I thought it had hot sauce too, which people seem to forget.

What I thought was weird was how Caroline was like deena just eat it, but if that was Caroline she wouldn't even attempt she would moan and sulk, whereas deena would try

Yup, you're right there. A lot of people seem to have forgotten, or are completely unaware, that it had hot chili sauce in it and not just spam. Ok, it wasn't as disgusting as some of the foods on offer, but some people can't tolerate hot chili sauce. There's also the fact that she thought it was beef. She comes from a cultural background where beef is forbidden to be eaten because the cow is deemed to be sacred. That cake was large too, much bigger than some of the other foods on offer.
I agree. I thought Caroline had a bastard cheek for having a go at her, to be honest. She didn't even participate in the task other than to pass the foods to the HMs. She claimed she was unwell. Perhaps she was, but she didn't look particularly unwell to me when she was shouting at Deana. |

While I'm completely on Deana's side with the whole confusing incident, she didn't have to eat the whole cake: the card that accompanied it said to eat the part within the red icing, which was a slice about 1cm thick (at a guess). Not sure if people are aware of that, with some of you saying she had a considerable amount more to eat than the others.

It was mob mentality at its thickest. Big Brother said nothing which implied there was a better prize on offer which Deana forfeited. There has never been a similar situation in BB history in which they haven't bothered to mention that such a prize had been forfeited. The HMs were angry about the task, especially Conor, and wanted an excuse to have a go at Deana, so they talked bollocks aloud until they found an imaginary bridge between the two. ****s. Quote:
.Had Deana twigged that? She seemed pretty confused about it all. Shades of Hira and her kettledrum-sized cake. |

Why should they care? How does someone being fake affect them at all? They should have just ignored it and got on with their own business. Seems like an overreaction to threaten to punch her and shove an epilator up her vagina, don't you think?

We all thought Conor was angry cos he had been chosen and he had poor reading and writing skills. Then it turned out he had nothing of the kind.
It was like a school class room the way they went on. Think BB should consider more older Hmts next time.

I don't think Deana's failure to eat the spam had any effect on the 'prize' - it was what it was. BB doesn't always give parties or treats as prizes.

I think they thought it would be a great prize so when it turned out to be the shopping list Becky read out the task instructions again which led some housemates to believe that they failed the task because Deana didn't eat hers

I think they thought the task was a group task, and even when it became apparent that it wasn't seemed to hold onto this idea, so that some of them assumed that the "disappointing" prize was because Deana failed.
