Who knows, guess many of morrisions customers will be surprised they have stopped selling them. No ones knows whats being discussed behind closed doors and as I said supermarkets often act like sheep. I hope they dont all stop selling them but with any product, if it dont sell and takes shelf space it normally eventually goes and lets be honest chart blu rays dont really sell well in supermarkets, people just dont have the money anymore to pay 30% more for a movie then they can buy it for online.

But they HAVEN'T stopped altogether, why do you insist on saying they have?

First it was gonna happen in Spring, its now July!
Its all stores, then its reduced shelf space.
Then its back to stopping altogether.

You do so much back-pedalling I'm surprised you can keep up with yourself.

Well I would pay a visit to your local morrions in the days/ weeks ahead, you could have to adjust your list.
I cant see that morrisions would stop selling at just selected stores especially as they have been considering stopping selling them for a while now
I bet its a nationwide decision with stores slowly removing them in the days/weeks ahead, thats the only logical thing they would do, lets wait and see shall we, but before then I may well have the official details on it anyway.

Supermarkets are also going to stop selling bread and milk.

They're just too niche.

So we've waited since last year.
Then you announce that you were right and they've stopped selling them.

And now we have to wait and see again!?!?!?

Please can someone help me out here because I don't know what the frig to believe.
You would think someone with contacts and sources around the Morrisons boardroom table would be able to get their facts right......wouldn't you

I wouldn't as I do most of my shopping at Tesco and Sainsburys.

I work in Morrisons and the store I work in still sells Blu Rays, as do the other 3 stores local to me. I can't see that they would stop selling them altogether, wouldn't make any sense.

I've noticed that Morrisons in Berwick Hills, Middlesbrough are phasing out Bluray's. They've not stocked any new releases except on DVD and been selling what they had off in bargin bins.

Unsure about Morrisons, Teesside Park but last time I was there, there wasn't much bluray choice on their shelves either.

It could be just Morrisons deciding to stock blurays only in stores where there selling most. Some stores do this as they don't like wasting money on stock that isn't selling.

You could well be right, there is no saying its gonna be a total phase out but it does have that ominoius feel about it.

It does if they are not selling...

its a shame as morrisons often have some good prices especially on boxsets and are often a lot cheaper then you can buy online. My local one never stocked that many but what they did were often good prices. I got a great deal on game of thrones BD Set but that was partly due to a pricing error, but even at the price it should have been it was still 3 quid cheaper than amazon.

I bought a couple of blu-ray films from my local Morrisons yesterday. They have 1 bay for the chart blu-rays & 2 bays for the bargain blu-rays.Apart from a space here & there in the chart bay their stock of blu-ray films was pretty healthy.

Yet again, total contradiction!

You start the thread by stating that Morrisons HAVE stopped selling Blu-Ray and display that arrogance stating you've been proved right.
But now you're agreeing with someone who believes they may just be phasing them out in stores where they don't sell so well.

You're embarrassing yourself.

I was really surprised yesterday when my local Morrissons had War Horse, The Woman In Black, Iron Sky, The Muppets, Sherlock Homes, and a few other new releases all on Blu Ray, and will no doubt have another latest release on sale today.

Seems they haven't got the message from Head Office not to sell them, and this is from a Morissons store that struggle to get the shelves filled before opening time, let alone have all items they have advertised on offer actually stocked.

None of those titles are new releases, they have all been out a few weeks, whatever is happening at morrisons has happened sometime last week as its only last week that many people are reporting that their store has stopped selling them.
Like any product one minute its there the next its not, it dont take them 5 minutes to take down the blu rays, your next visit to morrisons could see them all gone.
My friend asked in her local morrisons this morning and were told they are stopping selling them for good but they did not know if it was country wide. I will be checking with my store in the next few days, they were still selling them early last week. Maybe each store have been told they can stop selling them if they want but the fact that in each store that has stopped selling them they have been replaced with a new style DVD display does look like its some kinda thing that gonna happen country wide.

Another pointless thread from this WUM.

All disc media is suffering sales-wise on the highstreet. That's the reason we lost Zavvi and Game and HMV are struggling. More and more people are buying their discs (BDs, DVDs and CDs) online for the best deals.

Your supermarket stories are pointless so GIVE IT A REST.

My local Morrisons has a massive display of Blu Rays, more than 50% of the display in fact.

Spoke to the manager in my local Morrisons. He just said that 'head office' instructions meant they are no longer stocking new chart titles and just offering a small selection of 'value' titles instead. He's not sure if this is a permanent thing either.

To support others who have noticed a change in policy, I no longer see newspaper ads highlighting new chart deals. I hope they do have a change of heart - do enjoy a Monday after work evening browse, while grabbing my dinner. ..

I doubt they will change it, this has been in the pipeline for a while now, they were going to stop last year but clearly gave it another 12 months to see if it picks up but clearly its not.
Will be interesting to see if the stores that currrently have removed all their blu rays will put up a bargin section.

Thanks for posting the comments of your store manager as proof this is happening.

What's a bargin section? Something to do with people pushing in front of others?

How was that proof?

I went to my Morissons yesterday and had morning coffee with the manager, he said they're expanding their Blu-Ray section due to popular demand.
See, we can all get proof

my friend's brother's next door neighbour's aunt heard at the hair salon that morrisons are very concerned about their sales of giraffes. apparently the giraffes are showing a downward trend at the moment and there are high level discussions going on and a big decision is going to be made imminently.

edit: sorry, my error. it's sales graphs they are worried about

Indeed. It's very easy to make things up to support your own agenda/argument.

There's no point in trying to discuss things with geordielady though - 'she' will only address the points which support her argument. Makes me think that she's a politician ............. she has a similar attitude.

Really? My local morrisons said sales were through the roof! Or maybe it was the giraffe's heads

BR crisis? Pfft.

Some of us are still patiently awaiting the Betamax revival. It's still on, btw.

Kids, today. They don't know they're born.
