Festivalling abroad - any tips?
Hi everyone, in just over a week me and a friend fly off to Bilbao in Spain for BBK Live music festival. While we've both done UK-based festivals in the past this is our first one abroad. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or advice on things we should prepare for, things we should beware of, and so on
Also, I'm currently sorting out our travel insurance so if anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them!

Take your national health EHIC (formerly E111) card so you get medical treatment there for free like you use the NHS here.
I know your insurance covers health, but there's often an up-front charge and/or excess to pay http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthc...-the-ehic.aspx It applies to ALL EU countries such as Spain. |

Note!!! Many EU countries have lots of private hospitals that aren't funded by the state. In this case the EHIC doesn't pay. A lot of European ambulance services are also private and again EHIC won't pay. EHIC is good, but always ensure you have travel insurance as well. |

Glue your passport to yourself! My friend lost hers, it was a nightmare to get back!
Don't take anything that you object to getting ruined or losing. Suncream is an absolute must. |

Don't drink the tap water.
Don't eat the local food. Don't use the toilets. Don't talk to the natives. |

Scan a copy of your passport and email it to yourself, make sure you have both paper and email confirmation of your travel & insurance docs.
The rest is the same advice as with festivals here, make sure someone knows where you are - arrange a meeting point if you get split up... drink plenty of water, take sunscreen, don't hitchhike, etc... Have a good time

Thanks for the advice everyone, got the travel insurance sorted now
Going to get one of those money belts that go under your clothes to hold my passport. I don't really trust the lockers, thieves will know they're full of valuables! My main concern is our tent getting robbed as we won't be covered there, but we're not planning on taking anything massively expensive. Thanks guys! Any more advice will also be appreciated
