Found a stream for Team Radio and getting my first ever listen to talkSPORT Live. Wigan v Man Utd, haven't worked out who's commentating yet mind. I love how they have someone commentating on each game so instead having reports/updates from the other games, they can play a piece of commentary each time a goal is scored elsewhere.

That's as good as I can do when it comes to yesterday's IRN details, Ian. Newstalk obviously didn't need to take updates on Wigan v Manchester United and their sports coverage had ended by the time the late game kicked off.

On Saturday, BBC Radio Leeds will broadcast three commentaries simultaneously, because they are allowed to broadcast Leeds United's FA Cup matches.

When BBC Radio Leeds was able to provide commentary on all three clubs, they would always provide commentary on Leeds United on FM. Either Huddersfield Town or Bradford City would be on AM. The team not on AM would be on DAB, and the DAB commentary would not feature a summariser. Since Radio Leeds lost the rights to Leeds United's league matches, Leeds United matches they could provide commentary on have only clashed with Huddersfield Town matches when Leeds United played Bradford City in the League Cup. Then the neutral commentary was on the platforms usually used for Bradford City commentaries.

Also since Radio Leeds lost the rights to Leeds United matches, Huddersfield Town's matches have always been on 92.4, 95.3 and 102.7 FM. Since Pennine FM stopped broadcasting Huddersfield Town matches, Radio Leeds has had exclusive rights to the vast majority of Huddersfield Town's away matches. The Pulse covered a small amount of away matches when it had the rights to home matches, in the season Bradford City wouldn't allow any radio stations to provide commentary on their home matches. If Huddersfield Town's FA Cup match isn't on the usual FM frequencies, it may be the first time this century that a Huddersfield Town match couldn't be heard on FM in West Yorkshire.

Radio Leeds will presumably put the Leeds United commentary on FM, as the club is the most well supported in West Yorkshire. I expect the Huddersfield Town match to be on AM. I can't remember the last time I listened to a Huddersfield Town match on AM, but it would probably have been in 2006. I expect the Huddersfield Town commentary to be online, so hopefully I can listen online instead of on AM. There will be a summariser on all three commentaries on Saturday. John Sheridan will summarise, and Adam Pope will commentate on Leeds United versus Birmingham City.

Interesting listening to BBC 5 Live yesterday. There was rather a frank and blunt exchange between Pat Murphy and Robbie Savage over Asto Villa's problems. Murphy was interrupted by Savage and responded with a phrase along the lines of I 'I know interrupting people is a pasttime for you Robbie - if you just listen for once'. Then when Savage asked why Darren Bent wasn't on the bench Murphy commented with 'I know research is a strong point for you' and said that Bent had mainly been on the bench when not injured. It was quite an interesting, albeit slightly awkward, listen.

It was at 12.25 yesterday if anyone wants to listen again on iplayer - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...rt_01_01_2013/

Absolute Radio commentator Jim Proudfoot will be part of BBC TV and ESPN UK's shared commentary team for the BDO World Darts Championship between Saturday 5th and Sunday 13th January.

This got me thinking about who will replace JP on Rock 'N' Roll Football Live while he is at the Lakeside. Obviously he won't be required this Saturday as it is FA Cup Third Round weekend, but when the Premier League returns on Saturday 12th January, Absolute Radio should be doing a live commentary while he will surely be required on television to commentate on at least one of the semi-finals in the darts.

It will be interesting to see who Absolute call upon given that since the beginning of their live Premier League coverage in August 2010, JP has been an ever-present behind the mic for every live commentary they have broadcast over the past two and a half years.

Conventional wisdom would suggest they might call upon Adam Bridge (talkSPORT Live & BBC WM) in his absence, seeing as he has been their reporter at their alternative match choices on the final day of the past two seasons. If not him, then there's no obvious candidate. Perhaps one of the three football commentators Radio 5 Live made redundant in the summer; Nigel Adderley, David Oates and Mike Sewell, all of whom have subsequently done radio commentary on a freelance basis; might be an option?

To throw out another possibility, what with there being more than 32 Premier League Saturdays in a season (if you include the final day of the season and FA Cup Final weekend, which count as Saturday 3pm matchrounds under Absolute's contract) and with there being no standout fixture other than the probable Radio 5 Live pick of Stoke City v Chelsea, might Absolute decide to use Saturday 12th January as one of those Saturdays where they have to give live commentary a miss? One or two Saturdays will have to give and I could see the convenience factor in choosing this one. Having said that, the Rock 'N' Roll Football website has their next Premier League commentary (match yet to be confirmed) listed for the 12th but it has been known for online schedules to be wrong in the past.

Jim has tweeted that he will be doing 8 of the 9 days so maybe he will be on Absolute Radio on Saturday 12 January.

When he commentated on the Europen Championships he missed the Saturday to work for Absolute, so it may that they have first dibs on him, so to speak.

Just listened - I'm not Savage's biggest fan due to him regularly interrupting and selective listening... but that seemed very harsh from Pat Murphy - Savage only seemed to be after clarification of what Pat thought Paul Lambert's thinking was, not criticising his opinion of the situation. Interesting anyway!

After the PDC World Championships, the BDO tournament will be like after the lord mayors show as per usual.
