Why is Brian Dowling on my television?
Brian Dowling was the rightful winner of BB2 he was kind, funny and could get on with everyone. TV producers recognised this and thought he would make a good television presenter. All the shows Brian was given failed, and eventually ended up presenting post midnight drivel, the Mint. After the Mint got cancelled Brian settled back into being a reality tv star again, (come dine with me, hells kitchen) and re-entered the ultimate big brother house, where once again he reminded us what a funny, nice guy he is...how this got him the presenting gig though, I will never know. As a live presenter, he comes across as nervous, humourless and sometimes even nasty. He is losing any fans he had before this.

Anyone know how long his contract was with C5 to present the show
C5 have extended the BB contract by 2 years but have any of the presenters signed any new contracts i wonder By the way i love brian but presenting BB is not for him,he is far too constricted and scripted |

To be honest, I've never found him all that nice.
Yes, he can be witty in a shocking way but he can also be spiteful and self-indulgent. To me, the Brian we see on a Friday night (on the main show and milking any applause he can get on BBBOTS) is the same nasty bitchy boy we saw on BB2. |

If a heterosexual male inappropiately touched his guests and offered or requested sexual acts and made overt and uninvited sexual references to interviewees the way this buffoon continuously does they would be sacked immediately. Wouldn't they?

Completely agree, lovely guy but absolutely terrible big brother presenter. Seems like they need to feed him a couple of valium before he goes on stage, hes so awkward to watch!

Because that would be different. Brian is in a long tradition of camp gay men on telly making arch comments and double entendres. A straight man doing this to a woman would more than likely come across as a bit rapey. This is a product of history, culture etc. dry your eyes and get over it.

The reports said he was signed up as the presenter; he would be bound to notice if the contract just said a job on BB. |

Not really, he helped drive SMTV into the ground, and the rest have been complete, nothing shows. The mint was one of the most criticised shows in history, that preyed on the vulnerable people in society.

Nonethless the Mint was a successful show for ITV1. Just one of the shows Brian narrated - The Salon on C4, attracted ratings of 2.5 million during it's 6 month run. A nothing show? I think not. Posters on DS still mention it sometimes. |

There were questions but the multiple choice answers that we had to select were all positive apart from "out of touch" which isn't the first thing I think of when I watch Brian present (that would be useless, out of his depth, wooden, incapable of reading autocue etc.) but the only thing I could select.

Camp gay men have a long tradition of making double entendres etc. But I don't ever remember the likes of John Inman blatantly begging for sex acts and encouraging their guests to phone them.
