my mate bought a SHARP LC22DV510K for his conservatory, but because its all glass (so fairly bright) the picture is too dark
the brightness is 200 cd/m2

so would getting a tv with a higher brightness (ie 300 cd/m2) make enough difference?

has anyone got any suggestions?

I am sorry to say this but that tv just looks unattractive. Does it do some kind of magic trick? I would say buying a new tv would be the best option. If he has problem with bright colors at home go big and get the LG LM960V. The deep black level, warm and vivid color, will be the cure to all his problems.

I support terryfc81’s idea of getting a new tv. Passive or active 3d tv is fine, but I kinda prefer passive 3d tv because it’s cheap and easy to use IMO.

Tell your friend to throw out his old fashion TV and update his entire surrounding with the latest 2012 TV models. If he doesn’t know the kind of brand to choose then let him go for either Samsung or LG SMART TVs. LG in particular got the upgraded cinema 3d smart TV at affordable price.

we got one of these for my Sisters conservatory...Samsung 22"
It's a great little TV and she has no problems with the light in the room....Plus all the extras and WiFi connectivity saves on a lot of wiring....
