What foreign celebrities should realistically do the show?

I will only tolerate McEnroe if we can have Borg
Can we have Borg

Don't see Björn Borg doing it - if he was interested that sort of thing I think he's have done something by now. Boris Becker might be possible? He seems as if he might be up for it, but I don't know.

Usain Bolt won't do anything until he's retired from competing - the time he'd need to take out would mess up his training. The same goes for any athlete. I could see him on Strictly (or maybe more likely DWTS) in the future though - he seems to have a personality and a sense of humour.

I'd love to see John McEnroe, perhaps he could be persuaded. I suppose the problem for him as the same as with Borg, they're not trying to resurrect flagging careers and they're as well known as they want to be already so the only reason for them to do it, would be enjoyment and having a laugh. Some how think it would be more McEnroe's thing than Borg's.

And Anastacia would be great. There'd probably be more in it for her as well, so she might be a realistic possibility.

The one I'd really like to see, however, is Mark Cavendish. He can dance - his mother taught ballroom and latin and both Mark and his brother learnt. Mark stopped dancing when he took up cycling seriously, but I believe his brother competed for a bit and did reasonably well.

Apparently his mother says that she was surprised it was that way round - as teenagers Mark was the better dancer and his brother was the better cyclist. He'd be entertaining and I reckon he would give Craig a run for his money. His previous experience would rule him, I guess.

Oops, pressed post too soon. Of course Mark C is from the Isle of Man - so he is not exactly foreign, but at a pinch he might count!

The Brits are a bit xenophobic but would probably support someone if they knew of them.

Here's my lot :
Roger Federer (Nice nature, but would maybe have to wait until he has retired)
Steffi Graf (More high profile than Martina H)
Shakira (World famous singer)
Beyonce (As Shakira, ditto)
Kylie (Well known and well liked in UK)
Dita von Teese (Can the stripper do normal dances ?)
Fernando Torres (Liverpool, Chelsea, Spain - Well known in England, might dance better than he plays at the moment !)
Shilpa Shetty (Known for BB, like to see how she handles Western dances, If not deemed over-qualified)
Shane Warne (Real character)
Michelle Obama (Big fish - nice lady, in my opinion)

Steffi Graf would be such a coup for the show. I fear she'll do a Monica Seles though.

Andre Agassi might be good.

Shilpa is/was a judge on the Indian version so would be unlikely, but a Bollywood contestant would be good.

Steffi Graf is married to Andre Agassi so would be mainly US based.

However UK based former tennis greats would be good.
Boris Becker etc.

David Soul is UK based these days, as is Gillian Anderson (X-files)

oooh Gillian Anderson....shes a really good choice....well done. I think anyone who didnt know her in her X files days and only knows her from her Dickens adaptations on TV would be suprised to know she wasnt British. I think she would be great.....

She was raised over here from 2-11 and initially had an english accent till a few years after relocating to michigan.

I'd like to see Alvin Hall, the finance expert on the show

If we're talking tennis players what about Goran Ivanisevic?

Oh yes, Alvin Hall would be good and Gillian Anderson.

I'd love to see Michelle Obama on Strictly or DWTS, she'd be fascinating, but....dream on....can't see it happening any time in the near future.

I do think Gillian Anderson will be approached - she has done a few programs for the Beeb in recent times iirc.

If we're talking former tennis players I wouldn't mind seeing Stefan Edberg on the show. He seems to have disappeared off the radar in recent years.

I think he'd be great. He's likeable and still quite fit so would do well.

I said the same thing about Martina Hingis though.

No-one's mentioned Jennifer Aniston - think she would be very acceptable to the British public.

I'm not sure British audiences will have heard of it, so maybe she'd be better on DWTS.
