Please get off the fence, and just say what you really think dammit!

I concur...

I'm absolutely certain that whatever happens there will be a market for old games, so playing your favorite title in 10yrs time won't be an issue.

What Onlive say and what Sony do can't be compared.

In a world where cyber attacks are becoming more and more widespread, putting our trust in a 100% online servive is nothing short of MADNESS!
So Shoot Me

personally i see Cloud Gaming(In the guise of OnLive)as just another way of getting games into my house,i still buy retail,i still get the odd game off steam from time to time, they are all many strings on one gaming bow,yes Cloud is not suitable for everyone due to internet speeds but that will change in the next few years i suspect,i see Sony by buying Gaikai as just getting in whilst its cheap in preparation to reap the rewards later down the path

and when the day comes that discs are no longer used and we go completely digital(be that digital downloads or cloud)(EA have said themselves that day will come),i will get on with it,if im still gaming then(and ive no intention of stopping yet)

Change happens,it messes with our nice ordered lives then we just get on with it

Not seen many suggestions on this being how Sony plan to get remote play on to the Vita. I don't really know how it will work for games you already own or buy as a retail copy, but the fact that you have a PSN+ account with a save file or a trophy list may be enough to trigger you access to the game in the service. I don't know if it will work very well, but onlive is on the ipad, so it should be possible.

Yeah, I mentioned that back when this was a rumour before E3.

To me the Vita is an ideal candidate for this.

The Vita is a small screen so it doesn't have to pump out a massive resolution and thus won't require a beefy connection speed.

The only downside is that the Vita is a portable device and internet connectivity isn't that great when you're on the bus.

You could try 3G but that'd be inherently laggy.

Agreed and it frustrates me so much. We should vote with our wallets, this isn't about what's best for gamers and gaming in general. There's too many disadvantages for that. We don't NEED this. I think anything that doesn't benefit gaming as an artform should be boycotted.

Bit strong.

There are many pitfalls, but I do believe it is the future.

Much like a decade ago the likes of watching live TV online would have got you a ticket to the mental asylum.

The main issue with cloud gaming for us in this country is the lag and the 'not-spots'. More and more of those 'not-spots' are being addressed, so it just leaves lag.

Having used Gaikai I found it to be very responsive and didn't notice any lag at all.

Once physical media goes, and it will likely go at some point (not for a long time, though) I don't foresee the ditching of a permanent purchase.

Cloud streaming for sure, but you'd still I believe had a download option available for eons.

Gaikai have put a new site up,the demos are gone and it now looks like a placeholder for the road ahead as a Sony Company
