Waterproofs!
So this wet weather is reminding me I really need to fork out for new wet weather gear to walk in, but am lost as t where to begin as nothing I buy ever truly is totally waterproof or totally comfortable and I end up spending far more than I wanted//needed!! So
What is the best waterproof yet breathable coat you have had without looking to unfashionable!? and what are the best waterproof, breathable, good grips walking boots you have had? |

Gore-Tex, Berghaus and The North Face are all reputable quality brands. Serious walkers seem to wear those so they must be good.

I've worn my Berghaus walking boots through streams, puddles, rainstorms, muddy ditches and all sorts and I don't think they've ever let in water except when the water's been deeper than the top of the boots. They still look good as new too, the dirt just seems to brush straight off once they're dry.

Definately any jacket with a Gore-tex label on it. Nothing else is the same even though some companies try to tell you that their waterproof products are the same as Gore-tex.
I have Brasher Gore-tex boots, they are very waterproof but the grip is nothing special. Again I would say any boot with Gore-tex label, just check the sole for grip too. I also have a pair of Hunter wellies which are fabulous, I can walk in them for miles. They are not like the usual wellies you buy. There are all kinds of styles, mine are Huntress as I am too short for the long boots and the Huntress ones are shorter. Sometimes TKMaxx has these reduced. |

Well I have just ordered a pair of North West walking boots for a good price- see how we shall get along with those. I am used to wellies/snow boots now, but wellies aren't made for long walks I find and end up splitting, I have gone through loads, from £5 to £100. My obsession with walking boots knows no limits!! I need something that is totally waterproof but lightweight so I don't know they are there yet offer loads of comfort and security in the mud etc! I just hope I can get used to a pair of proper walking boots as I don't like anything to far down on the leg.
Coats well that is just as difficult as I like wearing the 3/4 type but again want totally waterproof yet something breathable. I have ordered something that promises all of this so we shall see! |
