Sony KDL40BX420 - any good?
Been looking for a new TV and came across this Sony
http://www.sony.co.uk/product/tv-102-40-lcd/kdl-40bx420 Just wondering what the impressions of it were and if anyone who has one could give me an idea what they're like? |

It's an old entry-level model but it seems quite good - if you are getting it at a good price I doubt you'll go far wrong.
PS I'm a fan of Sony TVs so not completely unbiased. |

It's the basic Sony model and I don't think they make it (Beko?)
Still not bad price at under £300 http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sony...1252901?page=1 |

The Beko made sets were only the old 19 and 22 inch models, the KDL19/22BX200/20D - presumably as Sony didn't have models of that size at that time. |

Ah a few forums have hinted that these basic spec models are unlike any other Sonys with regard to performance, menus and socket layout, suggesting that another company made them.

The 32BX420 is listed as an AZ-2EK chassis, and uses the same S-LCD panel as the 32CX520 (AZ-2F chassis) series. If I come across one I'll have a look inside, but there's no reason to suspect it's any different to the previous larger BX series. |

So..worth a punt then?
I understand its not top of the line - at that price it obviously wouldnt be - but I just want something that is better than the no-name brands that supermarkets sell. |

Well I'd certainly take your opinion over other Internet forums in this matter

I'd certainly get this over a budget brand or even budget Toshibas etc which are just rebadged Vestels. |

It's a Sony TV, and comes with Sony's service and backup - they generally far outperform the Vestels and other cheap makes.

my boy has this model and its ok
a bit cloudy looking on freeview, however I am used to Plasma . When I looked at it in shops I couldnt see any picture quality difference in the EX models give it a 1080 signal and its good through HDMI , he only has an xbox with HDMI and havent seen it on Sky |
