I keep saying that I'm going to apply to some of these shows, but what puts me off is the thought of viewers slagging me off like me & my family do to some contestants when we watch the shows.

Not knowing where the Dolomites are.
Not knowing the capital of Texas.
Not knowing which of Dickens' books Fagin was in.
All very basic general knowledge.

Surely if you are going on to a quiz show then you brush up on basic geography trivia? It tends to pop up a lot.

I saw one show where a contestant had a degree in Geography and thought Miami was an American state, another one who was studying History at University didn't know who Catherine of Aragon was married to...He said he wasn't studying that type of History.

I'm sure some of these numpties enter for quiz shows thinking that all the questions are going to be about celebrity trivia, or other non-subjects.

I wonder how some of them manage to get a job, or even manage to get dressed and find their way out of the front door. Today's contestants should all go home, put paper bags over their heads, and never ever leave the house again.

I was quite surprised how clueless some of the contestants were today, That Julie got a right slating on twitter for getting the boyband question wrong, and slating is a understatement..

I can understand someone of a more mature age not answering a modern culture question correctly, and she did know that Blue had less than 5 members. I was more suprised at some of the other answers, such as the Texas one - she didn't even know if Dallas was in Texas (and I'm guessing Austin, seeing as she didn't even consider that).
