It took me over 20 years to figure this one out, I shan't bore you with the details at this point anyway.

Get a 5 gallon fermentaion bin, and a siphoning tube, this is all the equipment you need!

Then get a 5 gallon 7 day wine kit, the best one's are Young's or Solomon Grundy.

Then, and this is very important, get 13 still water bottles from the supermarket, get mineral water if you wish, but the key thing here is that it's NOT tap water, tap water develops a bad taste when left to stand, and when used for wine the same thing can happen.

Keep the empty bottles!

Follow the instructions on the Kit, i.e. chuck it into the fermentation bin with sugar and leave for a week, follow the clearing instructions, I use a drill with a whisk for the de-gassing.

Siphon back into the empty bottles of water, and it's ready to drink.

No hassle, no bottle cleaning, and a low hangover, cheap pleasant alcoholic drink that will beat many £5 bottles of wine from the shop for a quarter of the cost.
