Madonna - Turn Up The Radio
Ok so in another thread there is a kick off over the fact MDNA hasn't apparently done that well despite the fact its just shy of two million sales without any genuine promo and no big single.
Turn Up The Radio is out in August and the video is coming in two weeks. Will it be a hit or will it go the same way as Kylie's Time Bomb? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qnf65rvZ6Ho Good promo video ^^ for those who haven't yet heard it. My opinion. Its not Madonna I know. She is trying too hard and has lost her way. I cannot put my finger on exactly what has gone wrong for her. Maybe its the divorce from Guy that has made her think she is 21 again but I hope this is just a passing phase otherwise her final legacy is going to ruin all he previous works |

I like that video haha! And sadly I don't think it'll do well in the chart so yeah it will be like Timebomb, both good songs but get overlooked in favour of rubbish in the top 20

Which video is the dragon clip from at 1.14 mins in?
Its not Bedtime Story unless I have been watching something totally different for all these years. As for the song. Its now my current fave from the album but she is sadly too old for radio/music channels anymore. There is nothing we can really do about it. If its released on CD in the UK though it should go top 40 as Madonna fans in the UK are known to collect her CD releases. |

It will not do well, and although I'm a big Madonna fan I can't say that it'll upset me because there are a vast number of better songs on the MDNA album that keep being ignored in favour of songs like Turn Up the Radio and Gimme All Your Luvin'.

Turn Up the Radio is a generic and as throwaway as the other singles that have been released from the MDNA so far. I never thought there would come a time when I didn't buy a Madonna album or like any of the singles (and most of the tracks) lifted from it. My prediction for the single? It'll bomb in the UK just the other singles have. I don't really understand why they're even bothering with it anymore, it's as a dead as frigging dodo in the UK. Finish the tour and move on already. |

I really like Turn up the Radio. But it won't be a hit because the album is old news. It's very difficult now for a second or third single from an album to be a hit now. If TUTR had been the first single, it might have done well, but not as a third single. It won't matter what she releases from the album now, it won't be a hit.

The thing that will keep TUTR from being a hit is -
A) There isnt any promo physically planned for the song! B) shes on tour so therefore cannot promote it on radio stations/TV shows etc. C) Radio wont playlist it due to it not being endorsed by M/Interscope for radio stations (not based on age at all tbh) D) the video probably much like WIld and Luvin wont get much circulation apart from release week (and maybe span the month!) IMO MDNA is a solid very good album with moments of greatness....but these moments arent being released therefore casual fans/mainstream listeners wont buy into the album/era/campaign as its not showing itself off. Which is a shame tbh....but hey the tour looks TOP! and i reckon next album and era they will suss out something definitely....but tbh it just gets material out there and am sure the video will be insanely whacky ![]() We will see, we could all be proven otherwise but seriously i dont think there will be any true impact from MDNA which is a shame....but that for some reason is they way they have chosen to go with this album/era overall |

Turn Up The Radio is bland, generic and forgettable. It's also one of the dullest songs Madonna has ever recorded.
I've been a huge fan of Madonna since I was a little kid and my mum would play her vinyl of Like A Virgin, I've bought every album, single, video, DVD available - I bought her Sex book, her childrens books, the collectors editions of her albums - the list goes on. So, as such a huge fan it pains me to say that I am bored to tears with MDNA, the videos she's putting out - this era leaves me cold. At the stage Madonna is at in her career she should be doing so much more than this. |

I hope it does well. If not, oh well. It should at least increase album sales.

I think 'TUTR' is being released because the label considers it the only surefire hit left on the album. They probably think it's the only song that can do considerably well without any kind of promotion. And granted that this was the concept of the release of 'GGW' as well, I don't think it's going to work tbh, even though I wish it succeeds.
In case it doesn't, I would like her to go for a very risky single with an all-out, controversial video and close the era with a bang

Her move from Warner to Interscope has really damaged her if you ask me. I hope the 3 album deal she has includes a live CD because if it does she might be able to leave Interscope after the next album and find a better label. I think she was a fool for leaving Warner after 30 plus years. |

![]() Jokes aside, as far as Warner is concerned, she's had her fair share of underwhelming sales figures and even failures with them as well. 'American Life' was a failure on a commercial level and the 'Hard Candy' era was not handled properly (maybe because she had told them she was about to end their collaboration, but still...). All the labels are having a hard time now and Interscope is one of the best around. The only other properly organized label I can think of is RCA, so I don't think she made a bad choice in terms of the label. She did make many bad choices in terms of the tracklist of her album, though

It is a shame what happened between her and warner. I hope they work things out at some point.
Yeah Interscope is one of the best around. I think Gaga and Lana are on that label. |

I always think Madonna has a dodgy album or two inbetween her greater periods. For example between Erotica and Ray of Light came Bedtime Story - which at the time, and still is by many considered one of her weakest albums. Then inbetween Music and Confessions we had American Life which was panned by many critics and bombed sales wise. Even many of her fans hate it. Although to me American Life was the last fantastic album she did. I love Confessions but it was a step backwards. Yet at the same time so successful because everyone loves Madonna and pop. I think at this moment in time however people want to see more than pop from Madonna and that is her main problem. |

I don't see why she's destroying her legacy with TUTR at all. It's a joyous pop song like a lot of her older music. What do people want her to do, if not pop music? Madonna is pop music to me. I'm happy she continues doing pop music and not some weird bizarre kind of music to prove that she's artistic or something pretentious like that.

![]() By the way I'm not suggesting she makes anything else but pop music. Like A Prayer was a good pop song, as was Into The Groove, Erotica, Keep It Together, Get Together, Love Profusion. All different but all pop. |

Turn Up The Radio is the best of the will we say 3 songs to be released (not sure if we count Masterpiece as a release).
It will not be a hit because radio will not play it. I also don't think radio will play her again even if a single is fantastic. Different routes need to be established if she wants hits again. Having said that Turn Up The Radio goes down a storm on tour, it's really the first song that gets the crowd jumping. Hope it's a hit, but sadly don't think it will be. Side note, instead of doing a new video, release a video of the song on tour, i think it would work better. |
