I think that now Liam and Sapphire are gone, Gus is one of the most mature people in the house, and while he's not so good at controlling his emotions, I think he's learning and I still find him very watchable. The actor is great as well.”

I think its the reactions, e.g screaming. Im watching it now and his "screaming" is really irritating and forced due to his voice change. I can see he isnt as "open faced" as he was in previous episodes too.

Well, in past series of TBR (apart from series 2), it's had a pretty high premiere audience but it's sort of dropped afterwards.

The fact that it's the most popular on iPlayer should help when it comes to the official rating. Maybe we'll be looking at 700k, and it also depends on the number of people who record it.

No, I also think it has got darker which is a good twist. I think TBR got darker when Lily fell of the roof at the start off the second series.

Also the numerous physical flights in TBR contribute to that.

Oh yes, the fights were pretty intense! (Also Carmen nearly falling off the bridge and Tracy falling down the stairs).

Also, how interesting is it that this thread has already gotten more posts than the Tracy Beaker Returns got in around two years (that's only because I kept this thread active before it even started ).

If you had joined DS at an earlier time then I reckon it would have got more posts like this thread has now.

TBR was still going on when I joined, but I didn't really start watching it until this year. "The Invitation" was the first episode I watched, and "Goodbye Tracy Beaker" was the second. I managed to catch up on the rest through repeats.

Oh right, I didn't know that. It was a different story for me, I started watching TBR since the first episode in 2010.

Interesting to know that a lot of the actors are Londoners - I can tell by their accents

That is the only issue I have with Johnny and Tee. I love the characters and the actors who play them are very good, but Tee is quite Cockney and Johnny is very Northern.

What's the issue, the fact it seems unrealistic?

I'm a Londoner, and I've been watching TSOTB for years, and the day that TBR first came out, there was a powercut right when it started. I've regretted that day for years because I wanted to watch it as soon a sit came out, then I couldn't be bothered to watch the others when they came out, I just caguely watched it on Saturdays...

Series 2, I watched 2.03 when it first gave it, and some others.

But Series 3, and TDG were the only ones I've watched every episode as they gave it.

Hi everyone! I didn't get a chance to post after Friday's episode, so here's my take on it:

I was looking forward to it so much that I suspect even the most exciting and groundbreaking episode would have fallen short in my eyes! I was expecting too much!

It did seem very wobbly without Tracy, but I think her absence was heightened due to the fact that Mike and Gina hardly appeared. It's focus was solely on the kids and especially Faith. I felt it was a bit of a mistake giving her such a prominent role from the start since the audience weren't familiar with her. I think if Mike and Gina had been more present, it would have had a ring of familiarity to it that was missing. Plus Tracy was so central to every storyline because we often saw the children and their issues through her eyes. In the Story of Tracy Beaker, the focus was very much on the children and their perspective, The move to TBR meant we got to see things through Tracy the careworker's eyes. The dumping ground has sort of reverted back to the focus on the kids! Plus the fact that Tracy was such an iconic character always getting in trouble with Mike etc has left a very big hole.

Moving on from Tracy though, it was striking how old everyone has got! Gus was my favourite, but he just doesn't work anymore! Mainly because if Gus is going to grow up physically and break his voice etc, why is he still being portrayed in the same clothes and the same behaviour? They should let Gus grow up mentally as well. Why does he always wear the exact same clothes every day? Surely this can't be explained away with Asperger's?

Gus the kid being played by Gus the teenager is not the best idea! I can see why the actor felt it was time for him to leave. For example, during series 1 and 2 of TBR, Liam also grew up quite dramatically. He changed a lot and his voice broke etc. But Liam changed mentally too, as a character. This is why Liam the teenager worked where Gus' isn't.

It's also a shame that Sapphire isn't there anymore as she was fantastic. I really hate Elektra lol..

All that said, I think the series has real potential. Once we get used to the change of perspective, I'm sure the issues affecting the kids will be dealt with more seriously. I would love to see how Johnny deals with his mother returning for instance.

By the way, I agree that Johnny's accent is very northern, whilst Tee's isn't. It is a bit unrealistic given that they're brother and sister!

Also has anyone else noticed that Lily always wears lilac clothes (in all the series) and Johnny always wears blue? It's not as obvious as Carmen always in pink, but it's an interesting element. I guess Gus wearing the same beige shirt and black trousers also fits into this. Maybe the colours are reflective of their personalities?
