Undercover Boss, Channel 4

Tonight Pizza GoGo.

I don't like pizza anyway & this particular branch hasn't helped change my mind!

I used to eat a lot of Pizza GoGo about 10-15 years ago - I hope they were more hygenic that the ones they've just shown!

(It's on C4 not ITV.)

I always like the way that they tell the boss (they dont know) to clean a toilet or tell them they're useless

I bet half the time they secretly recognise them and deliberately get them to clean the toilet when they wouldn't do that to a normal trainee. I can think of a few boses I'd have loved to dish out undercover jobs to.

I am not a big pizza fan and hadn't heard of Pizza GoGo till a couple years ago. I hadn't realised that there were as many branches as there are or that they have been around for as long as they have.

Also didn't realise they made their own dough so seem much better than somewhere like Dominoes.

I just hope the majority of branches are like this one, rather than the first one.

It doesnt seem as 'set up' as other reality programmes.

Is is me, or is his manner far too confident and composed for any of the business owners to seriously believe his fake story?

I used to use them because they were one of the first places to deliver when the smaller branches of pizza hut and other takeaways didn't.

I think it's you. He's pretending to be a graduate who is confident enough to be seriously considering taking on his own franchise.

I thought it was plausible since his story is he wants to buy a franchise

I always find it funny watching the "boss" trying to blend in as an employee. At the beginning when Fouad was asking intently about health and safety and defrosting chicken it didn't sound like a typical work experience guy.

^ This. Not so much the fake story that he's using for this Tottenham branch, but the earlier ones. I'd be surprised if they believed that he was an unemployed bloke coming in for work experience, given his various inquiries and general demeanour.

He isn't coming in for work experience though. He's coming to find out what it's like being a franchisee. It's more like The Apprentice than The Secret Millionaire (though even Secret Millionaire has started to move away from the 'I'm unemployed and doing voluntary work' scenario as it's gettinga bit see-through).

I don't find him particularly impressive. But then I fully admit to knowing naff all about business.

Yes he does act a bit like a boss at times, but his cover story is about someone looking to set up a franchise and so he would be a boss of that if he started on.

So you would have to be confident and have money to set one up, so that has hopefully covered his boss like confidence.

At the earlier franchises, he was coming in for work experience. That was the back story. This Tottenham branch is the only one where they changed the backstory to say that he was thinking of buying a franchise.

I heard it that at all of them he was looking for experience on how to run a franchise.

You don't sack anyone these days. You find "training issues" and train them!

Yeah but that place was disgusting and he didn't seem to care, he just cared about his plants more than hygiene.
