I'm glad there are millions of other people who disagree. No writer has been able to top the total poetry of the Twin Peaks dialogue. Ever.

Season 1 is outstanding and the episode in S2 when we find out who killed Laura Palmer is magnificant.

Season 2 went downhill because the network and David Lynch had a disagreement on where to take it. David left to do Wild At Heart, leaving Twin Peaks without much direction. He did return for the final two or three episodes, which clawed it's way back to top form, but the middle of S2 was ridiculous.

it is funny watching the extras about series 2...yes a bit (spoilery) but ive forgotten some of what was said....but the ideas of the more whacky characters for the sake of it mid-way after the resolution of Laura palmers murder was a mutual feeling and everyone hated it...will be interesting to see it though....but i love the idea that Lynch came back to rake it all back.

Also interesting that no one anticipated a third season of the show anyway...but they had ideas just incase it was greenlit!

But either way just seen the pilot....HOOKED!!!

I watched S1 for the first time a week or so ago, really for curiosity's sake, and I have to admit, I didn't really get why this show is so hyped.

However, thought I'd perservere, and started in on S2, and I have to say that only 2 eps in and I really feel like I can't be bothered to watch the rest.

What is it about the show that the fans love so much? And will it really be worth it to watch the rest?

i think its down to tastes....when it was out in 1990 it was a phenomenon unlike anything else "who murdered Laura palmer?" was the theme and subtext and basis of the show...and the cast and writing and direction was nlike anything else out there at the time.

Its all down to the Surrealties/Dark/Supernatural found in the everyday life tbh. I think thats why i was drawn to it....but yeah starting to watch season 1 tonight

Mark Kermode put an introduction piece to Fire Walk With Me on bbc.co.uk: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/markkermo...s_fire_wa.html (no spoilers).

Which I agree with; it's Lynch's best film, in my 'umble opinion.

Interesting that Mark Kermode loves it so much. Kind of makes me want to watch it now.

It is a love hate thing, but he's right that on a technical level it looks gorgeous so I'm always surprised it's not better liked.

I suppose the main problem/controversy is that Lara Flynn Boyle didn't want to do it, so you have Moira Kelly playing Donna Hayward. How much the head transplant bothers is subjective, it never really bothered me though- hey it's a soap opera, and it's not like head transplants are uncommon in that genre.

I loved the film. It's a work of art. Horrible to see Laura actually die.

That part doesn't really bother me, don't really care about the character of Donna.

I've read little bits and pieces of LFB being sort of a diva on-set and making them change certain aspects of the script such as giving Audrey a reduced role in series 2? Anyone know much about that?
