EU directive cookie popups

So how are you guys dealing with all these new pop-ups? For me they are a right royal pita - I delete all cookies when I close my browser, so the popups keep needing to be clicked away. I couldn't adblock them away either.

It is a fine piece of legislation that is practically forcing me to persistently store cookies

I just leave them.....they fade away on their own in a few seconds in my experience...I don't think I've come across an obtrusive one....
I do think it was a pointless bit of legislation....The clueless will always be the clueless....

They annoy the hell out of me. I like cookies, they keep me logged into websites and allow me to get cashback from sites like topcashback and quidco.

I do not need each and every website I visit telling me they use cookies. I already know this!

I think the way Asda do them is best. Instead of a popup there's just a warning in small red text at the foot of the page.

Yeah, it was a pretty pointless piece of legislation. Most people don't care and/or don't know about cookies and those that do take measures to clear them themselves. I have Firefox set up to delete them when it closes.

The popups are driving me nuts on the Which? site. I was reading online about zombie cookies last week but I should be OK as I have blocked all 3rd party cookies and only allow compact policy 1st party cookies (except for certain trusted sites). I briefly installed Reader 10x last week and was gobsmacked by the number of companies I had to opt out of due to Adobe's cookie policy. I remove all cookies via CCleaner after every browsing session and sometimes during browsing as well.

That's because Asda don't require permission to use cookies, not sure if it applies to all online shopping sites or just groceries .
I started to forget they was there untill reading this thread

Yes, a totally pointless directive that tells you nothing. Probably thought up by some politician who's never used a computer in their life.

Why don't they require permission if other sites do? That would explain why they don't use an irritating popup though.

They use implicit permission (i.e. they have told you they use cookes and so if you continue using the site they take it as you agreeing to them being set). The ICO told everyone that this was fine the day before the 1yr deadline expired which was really good of them
