Oops, I just bumped another thread speculating about this after noticing that Global had been granted an Ofcom licence for a music channel. Looks like it's true..

Haha - probably not too far off the mark. Although they also have Lawson, Ellie Goulding, LMFAO and a few others - so there *might* be a bit of diversity!!

Anyone think these channels may take the Big Top 40 as Radio 1's chart has music videos online so I'm wondering if they'll do the same here.

No Carley Rae Jepson? When I was listening to Kerrang for two hours the other day I heard that breaking through on three separate occasions! (Kerrang! on 105.2 has Capital on 105.4 in the background all the time here!).

To be honest, I think the joke was about the acts singed to Global's management arm more than who they play the most.

I wonder if these will be new channels or simply a rename of 2 existing music channels as the radio stations simply took over from existing radio stations.

I'm looking forward to them though.
Hopefully Capital will feature a chance to see the Big Top 40 in video form and broadcast some of the Capital interviews and Heart will feature Time Tunnels and Club Classics.
Hopefully they won't be quarter screen or feature teleshopping.

Thing is... Bauer's music channels, like their radio stations, are a bit...well... wishy-washy.

The music on heat radio isn't what I'd expect it to be from reading heat magazine, and now there's heat tv.

There's no clear brand match between them, so as a consumer, I'm not clear what they're "selling" me.

Capital and Heart are VERY, very clear brands. I know what I'm going to get, and I expect I'll get that with their TV channel too.

Britain loves brands. Safe (bland) brands. Look at why Tesco's successful. Different kinds of Tesco store everywhere, but it's still Tesco.

I think Global's doing everything (apart from magazines) that Bauer's been doing for 10 years, but they haven't got stuck doing it the same, boring, way that Bauer is.

These channels would make better background music stations for me, than the radio stations (less clutter). Does anyone know if there is an internet stream I can enter for my pure Internet radio for the audio only?

Looking very slick so far, these channels should massively improve their RAJARS too, as Emap saw with The Hits when they had a TV channel, brand awareness will be much improved.

Very good channels, really liking the slick change between songs (with the silence at start/end cut off).

Just wish they were on Freeview, but I bet they will be soon enough.

Just clicked on the WebTV to see what it's like and guess who was playing Lawson either that was an extreme considence or they are following what they do with radio and throwing there artists at you till you like them/

The main problem these channels have is the very poor channel numbers on Sky. MTV/Bauer have all the best slots, then you have a load of smaller/specialist channels like Scuzz, Vintage TV, Clubland then finally right at the end Capital and Heart. They won't pick up much 'passing trade'.

The channels themselves are excellent; they seem really well produced and slick.

Global is their label. Also the amount if times I can predict the next song on the radio network.

Your right there, the thing in Global's favour though is they can promote them no end on their radio brands, websites, facebook and twitter. Apparently there's been quite a buzz on twitter about the services so people are getting the message they have arrived already.

I'm no fan of Global's destruction of the ex-Galaxy brands to Capital but do have to say I'm impressed at the slick presentation of Capital TV in terms of seguing one track to the next. Not watched a lot of Heart yet but presume it's very similar.

Had a peruse of Heart TV (or heartv as per the logo in the corner) earlier.

They had 1987 as their Time Tunnel year, followed by Club Classics. So lots of Sister Sledge, Kylie, Beats International etc.

Same as Capital TV: slick presentation, quick changes between songs, Nothing like Kiss/Magic TV.

I really wouldn't be the first to compliment them, but the slick changes between songs - like radio, and not like traditional music TV - are really quite something. It's far more listenable.

i suspect all the Global bashers around here are going to be disappointed as both the Capital and Heart TV channels look like they have success written all over them. A clear brand proposition / slick but simple production and very true to their radio stable mates. Given they are free to air on sky and less cluttered and confused than Bauer channels I can see these channels being popular in Bars / Cafes / Hairdressers and even dentist waiting rooms etc. The ease of access whether by PC/iPhone or iPad is also new and refreshing. In terms of Freeview then I wouldn't be surprised if they get launched as IP Linear TV streams via You View / BT Vision / Sony & SMART TVs etc in the future. You might not like Global but they are very good at what they do.

Indeed I'm a global basher but must admit these channels are really good. My only complaint with capital is the playlist but its hit music so it will be tight but overall I like the graphics and the way its done so well done global (ouch that hurts lol)
