Ethan
Hmm. Im not completely sure about this Ethan. This was ok. But not the best. It wasnt bad, it kinda just blended into the crowd. You need to be stand out. But, it wasnt near the worst today, and should easily go through to the next show. So just kinda step it up a little bit for me. And you could do really well. Kerry I wanted to try a bit of a risk with you. When people think of you, I think they think of very boring performances. SO I wanted something more interesting, but that kept the vocals at the forefront. So I thought this was a perfect choice for you. Dunno what everyone else will think though. |

Stacey
Another really great performance tonight there Stacey. The standard is really high tonight. And you kept it that high. This was very well suited to your vocals. And this genre, isnt really associated with you, but it can be very interesting. I cant wait to see what else you can bring to the table. Harmony Hood Im not completely sold on this. It was a pretty descent performance. Im not just sure if it was very you. But it was a very good choice though. There would be a few other choices that would be a bit more suited, I think. But overall, I think it was a great way to end the show. |

A really fitting duet partner for you, and a great performance to open with. I really like that Seth is giving you an edge, and it seems like real thought is going in to your song choices. Mary This was surprising for me, but I think it worked quite well. I wasn't sure if you would overpower Maria but i think your voices contrasted suitably and it made for a beautiful performance. Goldie I had no idea who Goldie would duet with. Still, this seems very random. I'm not sure why Zak doesn't want to embrace a more obviously fun route with her rather than just hint at it; Goldie literally cannot sing well enough to cope with serious songs even remotely. If this was a real life performance from these two i feel like it would be an absolute car crash. If Goldie's here for a bit I want Zak to let her hair down and embrace the reason why she was on our TV in the first place. ![]() Luke A very current and very fitting partner choice, and I think you blended well together in this lovely performance. As Dylan says, i think you'll be safe and it will be interesting to see where Justin takes you. Gamu I know I made a disclaimer that i changed this last minute to help Alex out, but in any event I feel that that was a great performance. Mayc is a really individualised performer - which I feel you are - and this great cut from her new covers album worked a treat (even though Zak wanted you singing 'I try' ). You are such a strong performer and I think the quirkiness both of you offer blended well here. More soon... |

Dollies
Omg all the songs I have for this show keep being used! I had this lined up for Stacey as a singoff maybe, but this worked fabulously as a duet for the Dollies and Rilo Kiley. All the voices fitted well, the song was great for you and it was just splendid all round. By the way, I'm disappointed that Seth isn't taking Zak's advice from last week and digging up Whitney or Donna Summer to duet with you! Alexandra This was an interesting choice for you Alex, and though it took me a minute to get used to it I think it worked quite well as a duet. I like that Zak is thinking outside the box, and it will be intriguing to see what's next. Joe Why is Zak talking about original choice of duet? This is the only one I had? Anyway I didn't know this artist at all but I thought the similarity in voices worked brilliantly and I really got a sense of your direction. Fab. Nicole I enjoyed this. I like how Dylan is taking a more subtle approach to your mentoring, and also as Zak says quite modern. The trouble with subtle is that it doesn't always stand out, and i would like to see you do 'big' at some point, but I think you did well with this. Hannah That's my girl! A super performance and you really held your own alongside Taylor. You have such character and presence and it's a joy to pick for you. Well done. |

Girl vs Boy
I think that this was a good performance but I do agree that this wasn't entirely where we'd expect you to go. I'm just not sure if FTP is very 'you' considering all the people you could choose. It may just be because you set the bar so high for yourselves last week; it was a very good performance from you despite these comments. Duane I thought this was a great choice of partner, and I think the two worked really well together with a good chemistry. Lianne has a bit of spark and edge to her and I think that's exactly what Duane needs at this point. Ethan Again, another fab choice. NATW are such fitting partners for you and this worked a dream. They have such a positive, uplifting sound and I think that is exactly what you need to be doing. Kerry Kerry this was amazing for you! I really can't imagine a better choice; this is exactly where you should be going and I'm so excited to see more of you. Beautiful. Stacey My Stacey! I'm pleased that i took a slightly different approach with you this week, and I think the AAR worked well for you. You gave a lovely, convinving performance and I hope that people like it. HH Absolutely outstanding. Yes this was the song I'd also picked for Gamu (as a duet with Karen O), but I thought it was magnificent for you. I'm not sure how Dylan thought it didn't suit you, as you were born to perform songs like this. Brilliant. |

FYD - That was a really great way to start off the show, boys! I think you did a perfect duet with Frankmusik, and the song totally fit your sexy urban vibe very well. I really have some high hopes for you in this competition, and I think that you can go really far! Great work, boys.
Mary - I am afraid to say I'm not as keen on this performance as the others. As everyone knows, Maria Mena is one of my favorite singers, and I think most of that is due to the simplicity and honesty in her voice. The subtlety really makes the song, and I think your voice is a bit too staged and powerful for this. I appreciate the attempt, I just don't think the full emotional connection was there if I am being one-hundred percent honest. Goldie - Zak was keeping this duet under wraps, and I have to say I wasn't as impressed by you this week as I was last week. I appreciate the attempt to go for something fun, but I agree with the others. If you are going to go for it, you need to commit 100% or not try it at all. I think this was a bit too half-way for me. Still, I think you'll be safe as you have a fanbase, so I hope you can change it for the better next show. Luke - I wanted to really try something different with you. I think having you duet with a female artist would have been a bit safe, and after last week, I didn't want to go for safe. This was a great vocal blend between your higher tone and Gotye's really unique vocals. I think that the duet worked amazingly, and I can't wait to see what we can do next show! Gamu - I actually really liked that, Gamu! It was fun, cute, and a really good vocal blend. Your voice is a bit purer and more innocent sounding than Macy's, but I still think this was a great performance. You really did great with a song that was given to you last minute, and this was a really risky performance that worked wonders for me. Dollies - People are picking some of my favorite artists tonight! Seriously, though, that was PERFECT for you. Seth really has it great with the groups. I think you are polished and unique, and I really loved the song choice for you. This was great. You're great. And this was a smash of a performance. Well done! Alex - That was a really interesting performance! I really liked the way it sounded on your vocals and, with a direction like this, I think you could avoid being the stereotypical diva that people were expecting you to end up as. I think this could be a shining beginning for a dark horse in this competition, and I hope you can keep up this momentum! Joe - Joe! That was AWESOME. Your voices just blended so perfectly on that stage and made so much magic. I think you did phenomenally with a song that isn't very easy to sing, and while your voices are similar, I think the blend was a harmonious hodgepodge of eargasmic wonder. You are brilliant, and I'm happy to have you. Nicole - I REALLY liked this performance for you! It was modern while still retaining that kind of vocal intensity that we have come to know with you. I didn't really remember your performances from the opener, if I am being honest, but I am certainly going to remember this one! I liked this for your voice and I think that you will definitely be safe come tomorrow! Well done! Hannah - Our resident rock chick with a great rollicking performance there! It was fun, spunky, and a great vocal. There isn't much to say - Pete got this one 100% correct, and I really loved the performance. Great work! Girl V Boy - I know I have been a fan of the groups this evening, but I have to say I wasn't really feeling that one at all. I think that you two are a lot more fun and charismatic than the laid-back vibe that song has, and while I love both you and the song, I don't really know how much I love the combination of it all. I hope you two are safe, though, because there's a lot of untapped territory with you that could really help you go far. Duane - That was such a cool performance, Duane! I think you have a great voice and you really brought a lot to the table. I'd have liked to have seen a performance with a bit more of a "bang" to it, but I really think you did a great job and you should for sure be safe after that. Good work! Ethan - This was a bit of a risk, I think, but I really thought it came out great in the end! I love NATW, and I think that you did a great job with them on that song, which is one of my favorites of theirs. It was fun and energetic while still holding onto your roots as a performer, and I think you did fantastic. Well done! Kerry - Ok, I know I didn't give comments last round, but I really wanted to talk to you about being too quirky last show. I think that last show, Dylan tried too hard to modernize you. You have a much bigger, more balladeer kind of voice. And I think that the choice of Lana for you this week was equally as questionable. This was just a strange duet for me. Believe me - I love Lana. And I LOVE Off To The Races. It's my favorite of hers. But I think that your voices just didn't work at all. Sorry, but I was hoping for something a bit more from you. Stacey - RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU'RE SURPRISED PETE GAVE THE PIERCES TO ONE OF HIS GIRLS! :P But seriously, Stacey, I love you, I love The Pierces, I love The All American Rejects, and I LOVED that performance. One of my favorites of the night, you did a fantastic job. You should be very proud - it was a beautiful vocal, and I loved how you sounded on it. Great job. Harmony Hood - Wow, this was another great group performance! This was a great performance and I think you worked perfectly with Santigold. It stayed true to who you are, and I think you blew it out of the park. Smashing job, well done! My favorites from each category: Alexandra, Stacey, Dollies, and Nicole! |

FYD:
Hey guys! I chose Frankmusik to duet with you and I think his music is absolutely perfect for you, and I thought this song in particular had a lot of potential for harmonies. This was fun, upbeat and energetic and I hope everybody else liked it too because I have so much more fun mentoring you guys than I thought I would! Mary Byrne: Hmm, I'm not totally sold on that Mary. It wasn't really a song that I could imagine you singing when I saw it posted, as I just doesn't seem very 'you'. I admit, as the song progressed I could kinda see how it would suit you but I still don't think it worked that well as a duet as you and Maria are just SO different with her soft, breathy vocals in comparison to your strong, powerful vocals. Goldie: I'm basically just gonna echo everyone else here; I think Zak is doing the right thing by moving you in a more fun direction but at the same time I think, as the other's said, he needs to fully commit to the direction for it to work and just really go for it with the outrageous, crazy choices as I just don't think Goldie is going to work as a serious act. Luke Bayer: I thought this was a really interesting performance from you Luke! I remember some criticism of your performances last week being that they were a little boring and samey but I thought this song choice combatted that brilliantly, as it was such a left-field choice. It did really suit your voice, but it was more interesting and edgey than last time and I really loved it. Gamu Nhengu: You were definitely one of the standouts of the previous shows Gamu, and I thought that again you really shone tonight. I am loving the alternative yet soulful direction that Pete is taking you in and Macy is really a fantastic duet partner for you. I thought this was really just a great performance, and I think you will definietly be here for a long time Gamu. Dolly Rockers: Hey girls! I chose this song for you as I thought that your songs last week were a bit on the more serious/dark side so I just wanted you to come out tonight a deliver a fantastic, uplifting and fun performance - which you totally did! Your vocals and harmonies were really great this week as well and overall I just thought that was a very enjoyable performance. Alexandra Burke: I thought that was a good performance Alexandra. At first, like Dylan, I was a bit confused by the song choice but as it went on it did grow on me a lot. I thought it established an interesting direction for you, as it was really quite different frem what we'd expect for you but I thought it was really cool with the retro vibes and I am looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us next! Also as a side note, this song really reminded me of something that should be in James Bond. ![]() Joe Cox: This was SO you Joe! It was just absolutely perfect for you. I don't really know what to say; your vocals sounded phenomenal and you definitely suit songs with a more stripped back instrumental. This was just so emotional and like I said before perfect for you. Theo nly possible criticism I have is that perhaps this could be overlooked by voters by the 'bigger' performances tonight? I loved it however. Nicole Lawrence: I definitely didn't see Wynter as a potential duet partner for you! Listening to the song though I do think it would have actually worked quite well, and I could definietly see you performing it. If I'm honest, I didn't realise that any of Wynter's music was actually this good so I was definitely pleasantly suprised when I listened to the song. I liked it more and more as it went on and it was just brilliant in the end. Hannah Bradbeer: If I'm honest I'm not a huge fan of The Pretty Reckless so I feel like I'm missing something looking at the others' comments as I wasn't totally sure about this performance Hannah. I definitely the route that you went down last week, and would prefer to see you do something more along those lines in the future. Girl V Boy: I will admit that this week I had trouble picking a duet partner for you guys, as I though that having you just perform with a solo artist could disrupt your group dynamic. In the end I went for this because I thought it was similar to the Grouplove song from last week but a bit more laidback. Obviously this hasn't had a great reception from the jduges, but I do hope you guys stay as I think you have a lot to give and we could really use this criticism to move forwards as an act and deliver more great performances! Duane Lamonte: Well Lianne is one of my favourite newly discovered artists and I think she is a brilliant choice to duet with you. You both have really beautiful voices, and they blended together incredibly. There isn't much else to say; great performance! Ethan Boroian: NATW are definitely a band that suit you as an artist and this was a strong performance for you; the song suited you very well. I do agree with Dylan's comments however that it may not stand out much tonight, though I do think you have done enough to get through and will impress us once again next time. Kerry McGregor: There is a bit of stigma about Lana Del Rey being overused in these games now, but I don't really care as I love Lana and this song in particular! It was a brilliant performance in my opinion and I loved contrast being the powerful lower vocals of Kerry and then the cutesy, higher vocals of Lana. Really great. Stacey Solomon: When I saw that you were duetting with AAR I was a little worried as I'm not a big fan of theirs if I'm honest, but I thought the song choice was really great for you Stacey. The Pierces' vocals suited your's very well and I am really liking what Pete is doing with you in this competition. Fantastic performance! Also, as a bit of trivia, I actually very nearly chose The Pierces to duet with the Dollies this week! Harmony Hood: I absolutely loved this from you guys! It was just so full of energy and suited you guys perfectly in my opinion. It carried on the theme from last week of the youthful sound that you guys have as a group with the song sounding a little chaotic but somehow managing to work. I nearly used a Santigold song for HH last week, but I am very glad I didn't as it meant you guys got to perform this amazing duet with her tonight! |
