Homechoice and video recorders

Can anyone advise me what I can do to record onto VHS via my homechoice stb? There are grey lines across the screen on the tape at present. It looks like some kind of protection but ive had sky and ntl previously and its been no probs to record from them.

I've got the same problem here. Everything was fine up to a few weeks ago. Does anyone have any ideas because Homechoice have been useless at resolving this?

HomeChoice do use copy protection (a system called "Fog") on some of their content. This is probably what you're seeing.

it seems to be all channels. I only noticed it last week when taping a program on itv. Very odd. I can understand if it affects the movie channels but everything else should be fine. There was no mention of this when the engineer hooked up my stb to my vcr.

I've just contacted Homechoice (3rd time regarding this issue). As usual they were very helpful, but this time the guy I spoke to raised a fault for the technical people to look into; something that should have been done immediately. Have you contacted them regarding this?

I have been experiencing problems with HC and my plasma tv as a result of the FOG protection since installation 2 months ago. I recently received a phone call from the HC engineers asking if they could come over and test a new version of the software with my tv before releasing to the whole HC network, we have not successfully arranged a date as yet I'll keep you posted ...
