The More The Slower?
Just bought a 16gb card for my htc desire s and I have just transfaired what was on my 8gb card to it. If you install more apps/games to your mobile does this effect the performance of it? I does seem to take longer to boot up and seems a bit slugish too when scrolling through the app menu.
I'm using htc sence 3.0 |

More down to the performance of the SD card itself, rather than the capacity.
You could have more applications running at startup, which would definitely degrade the boot time. |

Depends on which apps are you installing. if they have components running all the time (e.g. getting continuous updates) then yes they can slow your phone down. If you select Settings -> Applications -> Running services it will give you an idea of what is using up memory (RAM) and CPU.
As for changing SD card, unless you have gone for 2x card then it won't make any difference to the phone. Even a 2x you probably won't see any difference. Anything above 4x I can see making any difference to performance. |

How can I tell as it says nothing on the card and it only came in a plastic case along with an adaptor.

Normally there's a marker on the card, a stylised number 2/4/6 that indicates the speed class, thats the main indicator. |

The only 16GB joyflash cards I can find are class 6 or 10.
If you really want to check if its the card or not is to swap back to the old card. |

A Windows program called h2testw will test the card (by filling it with dummy data - ensure it's backed up first) and will indicate its real capacity and speed.
