Sony Bds s480 vs Samsung e5500
Hi guys I'm interested in the above two players the Sony is £80 and seems to get great reviews the Samsung £85 but is new and I can't find any expert reviews, I'm just wanting to know which has the best possible picture, I have a Samsung tv so it would be beneficial I suppose to be able to use the same remote, but if the Sony is superior then I'd go for that, any help would be much appreciated Thankyou.

Assuming the TV is CEC enabled, the Sony player should work via the Samsung TV remote anyway (it's a feature of CEC).
Personally I find it's a complete pain in the bum - it means you can't adjust the TV menu whilst on BluRay (the TV menu button brings up the BD menu instead). |

However for features/futureproofing, consider the 2012 BDP-S490 for around £100-£110, |

That's like saying Atari invented gaming, so they must still be the best
![]() Sony did invent BD, so presumably know more about it than anyone else, plus Sony is a FAR higher quality manufacturer than Samsung. I wouldn't expect any picture quality differences between them though, it should be down to the quality of the discs more than the player. |
