Whitney (Season 1, UK Pace)
I know there were a few comments in some of the other threads but no actual thread ..
Caught it earlier this afternoon and even though it was apparently Episode 11, I quite liked it. Whitney Cummings was a tad wooden, but overall I thought it was pretty decent. The gag about "Going acoustic, Eric Slapton style" made me laugh out loud though

Returns to episode 1 from next week... Seems a bizarre scheduling move but must have been done for some reason.

Was planning on watching this but i think i'm going to give it a miss. Seems like an average sitcom and nothing special to be honest.

The show apparently improves as it goes through, perhaps they're trying to spread out the crap episodes

Hang in there, it not bad but it gets a lot better.
The season finale is a very funny and sweet episode. It looks like they thought they werent going to get a renewed when they made it, but its the best episode of season 1. |

Are you sure about that, have checked on digi guide and there dont appear to be no pilot episode, just episode 11 plus an episode called spicing things up which in fact is not even an episode title for any episodes of whitney.

Maybe Spicing Things Up is what they've called the Pilot?

I like Whitney on Chelsea Lately so thought I'd give this a go. Awful, awful show. Can't believe it got passed the pilot let alone the first season.

I watched it and I didn't laugh once. The jokes could be funny but they seem so forced and the characters are so wooden and I couldn't really connect with them

Well I watched episode 1 this week and I still enjoyed it so i'll definitely stick with it. Still thing Whitney Cummings is a tad wooden, but didn't realise she actually wrote it as well.

I caught a brief clip of this today and had to turn it off. Wasn't funny at all. The main couple didn't seem to have any chemistry and as the OP has said, the woman who plays Whitney is really quite wooden.

She also co-devised "2 Broke Girls".

Shame they only showed episode 1, now its back to like an episode in the middle of the season. Seems a bit pointless just showing episode 1.

Why are comedy central showing just random episodes all over the place, next week they are showing episode 4.

So it's been on for 3 weeks and they've shown episode 11, 1 and then 14. Strange move by Comedy Central.

I didn't realise I had been watching this out of sync thanks to Comedy Central! I wonder the reasoning behind that decision, perhaps the first half of the series is crap and they want to get viewers hooked first so are showing the best episodes?

So this is order they have shown them so far, (bold is next 2 weeks episodes to come). 11, 1, 14, 4, 2 But I guess if you want to watch the episodes in order then if you keep them on your sky box they may eventually show all episdoes so you can pick them out to watcth them in order. Here is the full episode listing http://www.episodeworld.com/show/Whitney |

That's really bizarre. As dave has said, maybe they're showing them all over the place to try and balance out the stronger episodes with the weaker ones ?
It would be too much hassle to record them all and pick them out in order though so i'll just watch them as and when they air. |

Anyone else feel this is disgraceful treatment by Comedy Central? No show should ever have episodes shown out of order! I know its not the same genre but imagine if this was Fringe, there would be an uproar! Why is it ok to treat a comedy this way? Makes no sense whatsoever.

I've watched the four (I think) eps on Comedy Central so far and I'm liking it. Whitney Cummings is funny and sexy in that odd, non-conventional way some women have, the scripts are funny and Alex is played nicely as a 'normal' guy who knows he's dating a crazy chick. If I've one criticism it's that the friends that orbit around them are sooooo stereotypical. The sex obsessed one giving the guy's p.o.v. because Alec can't, the bitter divorced one giving a women's perspective of dating in your 30's, the newly loved up one repulsing the others with their PDAs and, of course, the token ethnic guy.
