Sony Xperia P
Hi folks,
Does anyone know if O2 is the only network in the UK that will be offering the Sony Xperia P? I've been offered a great deal on the Xperia S by Orange, but I think the handset is a bit big, but they don't offer the Xperia P. Is it likely to be available over the next couple of months? Thanks, Ian |

That's true, but I'd doubt the third party dealer could offer the same deal as Orange directly (it's a retention deal).

Best you can do is use Omio to have a look and see what the best deal is you can find for Orange and see how that measures up against the retention deal you've been offered. If it's not as good then your only other option may be to take the S, sell it and buy a P SIM-free/PAYG. That or look at different handsets altogether - what do you like about the P? |

Just checked Omio and the deals aren't as good.
Basically, I like the features of the - i.e. the processor, camera and size are very good. Plus it looks quite cool. Considering taking the Orange contract with the S and then buying the P sim-free. But that's very close to buying the handset sim-free then going with GiffGaff or something similar. I'm inclined to stay with Orange as I've been with them 7 years, they are generally pretty good, and they normally give a good deal at the end of the contract... which I'd lose out on next time! |

If the deal is so good from orange. Why not take it, sell the Xperia S, and then buy the Xperia P. You'd end up either making money or at the very least not losing any money.
Just out of curiosity, what is the deal? I'll see if i can find a better one with the P. |

The S isnt that much bigger than the P and it is a much better phone. I was worried my S would get snapped in my pockets but no problems at all sitting down even with tight jeans on.

The Sack - you could well be right. I had a look at the 2 today, almost impossible to separate, but there's just something about the P that makes it seem a great size. |

Tbh like you said, there is not much difference between the P and the S. I got a sensation a while back which is the same size as the Xperia S and i thought it'd be too big but it's actually a great size and perfect to hold/for browsing/videos. Plus the S compared to the P is superior in every single way. Even if they offered the P on their network i doubt you'd be able to get such a good deal as the Xperia P deals on other networks/through third parties are not that cheap. So i'd recommend going to a store and playing around with both as you may like the S, also its a great phone for the price. If you want to stay with the P then i recommend selling the S for £320 (£350rrp) and buying the P for around £260 (£275rrp) from a third party site so it's cheaper. Works out saving £60 over two years which means on average you're spending £18.50pm which is an excellent deal for the P. Or keep the £21pm Xperia S which is an awesome deal in itself. Also try getting them to lower the mins/texts for a lower price per month with a free phone. But i'm guessing you've already tried that. |
