Following on from the earlier threat about the EE Favourite characters show being cancelled (by the way the "off screen antics" is a cover up - its actually because the cast were furious they would be placed in order of who was the best - people like Wendy Richard & babs would have been at war & im sure many more would be, so it were scrapped)

Anyway, what shows/stuff do you think EE should do to mark 20 years, apart from get much better characters & stories in it's current line up.

I thought maybe a new EE DVD, called EastEnders 20 or 20 years of Eastenders. It'd be a double disc, featuring one episode from each of the 20 years voted the best from a poll on the website (each year has 5 selections, the higest vote goes onto DVD) and as DVD extras there could be a look behind the scenes, a special EE episode like that Dot's Story one, photo gallery's of the sets & the sets of yesteryear etc etc

Also the BBC should produce a special show tell the story of how EE was created, taken from the "inside Story" book of 1987.

There should be 3 plaques unvieled at Elstree Studios, maybe even on the set, 2 of those in memory of the late great Julia Smith who died in 1997, and one to the late Keith Harris who desgned Albert Square and died a few years ago. The other of course would be to Tony Holland. He would unviel the plaques as he is the only surviving member of the duo - it'd be a fitting tribute to a great team.

Special shows to go on TV Should be things like...

EastEnders Revealed special : 20 years of EE

The Great British EastEnders quiz, with Anne Robinson & philip Schofield - expert fans Vs cast/crew

The EastEnders reunion : The original cast are invited back to the square to meet & recall fnd memories of the early days & getting EE started - includes catch up's on what they did next.

The EastEnders 20th episode itself should be a special episode like EE15. Original characters look back on the past, featuring classic clips and news of that characters are doing now (example Pauline could say "I still get christmas cards off Naima Jeffery, she's living in X now doing X")

TOTP2 special : EastEnders, featuring Anita Dobson, Nick Berry, Letitia Dean, Martin Kemp, Michelle Gayle, Sid Owen, Sean Maguire etc etc

And the usual EastEnders bloomers show, Unforgettable episodes re-played, maybe a morning with EastEnders....

And a host of new EE merchandise, EE mugs, EE T shirts, Albert Sq signs, keyrings, pens, badges etc

Confirmed so far - EastEnders 20 book - foreward by Wendy Richard, released early Feb 2005!

Yes, I remember they had a vote on 5 episodes on EE15 and I was so pleased they were to show Tiffan'y death again, because I missed it the first time.

Then I went and missed it the second time...

Yeh I missed that episode too, caught it on one of the UK Gold weekends. The ideas posted above are fantastic. And I agree about the cast being annoyed about a poll of who the public like best. There are a lot of egos on the EastEnders set so best to keep things peaceful for the 20th birthday celebrations. I'm looking forward to hearing the plans. I'm sure there'll be an EastEnders evening on BBC1. Probably get EastEnders Weakest Link Special and stuff like that.
