Why do so many movie clips get leaked for promo these days?
I'm having to turn over adverts for The Dark Knight Rises as it seems to be different clips every time and I feel like I've already seen the whole blasted film. The same is true for The Amazing Spider-Man too.
This seems to have become a trend in recent years. I know it's to draw people in, but it turns me off. I don't like spoilers and some of the images in these promos, even when they are only split-second long flashes, are incredibly spoilery. Does anyone else hate this sort of thing? |

I've seen pretty much everything going for TDKR but I still couldn't tell you the exact timeline or plot (they only just reached a synopsis). TDKR is an example of doing it right about 15% of each ad is new footage.
The Avengers however..... |

I feel like I'm a weirdo for not wanting to see key footage of a film in any form until I'm actually watching the whole thing in real time in a cinema/on a DVD. |

The worse one I have seen recently was for Spider-man, they basically showed three whole scenes it was slightly annoying as I was looking forward to watching the film and I try to avoid big promo things about films I like to see, I couldn't avoid this with it being stuck in the trailers before Prometheus
I don't mind a trailer as that just gives you a taster and gets you excited but a 10 minute set of clips does get a bit much. |

Well about all the TDKR footage. it is nearly a 3 hour film so even with all these clips put together, I don't think its going to spoil the film.
As someone else pointed out, I can't work out the timeline. |

I still think the clips are massively spoilery, timeline or not. You know they will be coming at some point. Imagine if you didn't know they'd be coming at all. I think it would be so much more exciting.

Apart from everything else compared to other big blockbusters from the past few years TDKR has been pretty spoiler-lite. It would be nice to not know they are coming but if all these things weren't in the trailer you'll have people saying left, right and centre "Oh that doesn't look very exciting". |

No amount of clips will compel me to watch the Spider-Man reboot.
