I for one am slightly dissapointed that they are going...they've grown on me...but after all the negative press, perhaps its better for all parties involved to cut their losses.

theyve grown on me a little, they are appealing cos they are normal. why does every character in soap have to be a super bitch, or mass murdering psycho, or love cheat. come on script writers , lets have some normal characters that are believeable

normal they may be...but since when does normal ever appeal to the great british public? if they want normal they look at their own lives, we want stuff thats interesting to watch. i cant see it being very good drama if making a cup of tea and deciding whats for tea was the storyline!

I agree. They are an honest, hardworking family, whats wrong with that? It makes a refreshing change to nave "normal" characters. I am sorry to see them go.

but it should be realistic. most people accept that soaps can be dramatic, and yes i agree those sort of characters/storylines make it interesting, but a soap can have an abundance of overthetop characters/storylines which makes it less credible. ie Brookie. I fear that soaps will just burn out in a few years time because everything imaginable will have been done and they will just get ridiculous. they should tone them down and keep realsitic characters like the ferrerias (sorry about the spelling).

Oh come on they may be normal but that doesn't make it interesting, EastEnders will be everything it once was without them.

you need stable characters who give the show some stability and credibility. ie pauline, pat etc. and i think the ferrerias have jelled into that community pretty well, and are quite believable and enjoyable to watch, the recent footie stuff has been quite good - i mean its the first ive watched eastenders in a few months as it is getting better now. Better because thecharacters are interacting with each other better , not because there have been any explosive storylines

at least pat and pauline have personality though, there is nothing redeeming about the ferreiras!

i think ronnie and tarik are good, and sasha, if she was written well for could be great. i mean she is Mel before she went over the top. its not fair for writers to just give up on characters without giving them a chance.

They are to leave in Spring 2005, there is something big planned for EastEnders at Easter next year which will be used to get rid of the a few of the axed characters.

One of the points about the Ferreira's not working, was the fact that they were anything but a normal asian family - so no they were not realistic.
