Wake up alarm wont wake up phone??????????
I have a Blackberry which automatically goes to sleep at 1.am every night and wakes up at 7.0, charges up thro the night (bonus) but also wakes me up every morning for work (later at the weekend) whether its on or off
I'm trying to buy a new phone - quite fancy HTC but struggling Struggling to believe there a mobiles out there that alarm doesn't work unless mobile is left switched on????????? Last two i've looked at dont work??? and I've had phones since 90's (LG's and Sonys) and they all sounded wake up alarm when switched off Anyone know whether HTC Desire C has 'wake up' alarm??? Also, Are there any other phones out there that can be set to shut down/start up daily automatically (again my old Sonys did) or will i need to buy another Blackberry? |

Smart phones aren't designed to be started up and shut down constantly due to the volatile flash memory inside them. The phone doesn't need to be switched off to charge either. |

I have yet to own an android phone that the alarm will go off if the phone is off.
As for them not being supposed to be turned on and off what a load of old FUD. Turn it off and back on as much as you like it wont do a thing other than occasionally make your phone run smoother. |

all my old phones used to sound wake up alarm whether they were on or off - as they should!
and i cant for the life of me understand the point of having an alarm on a phone it if it wont sound when the phone is off tried several androids and none of them do it looks like i'll have to switch it in/out of flight mode - e-v-e-r-y n-i-g-h-t and e-v-e-r-y d-a-y dont suppose this can be automated?? |

Out of interest, why do you switch to flight mode at night time? Is it to surpress alerts, calls, etc?

my mobile alarm wakes me up whether my mobile is on or off that what i would expect of any alarm - by definition apparently androids alarms dont work properly (by the same definition) - sorta confirms that most people value functions (prepared to pay for them) whether they work or not so looks like i'll need to switch it flight mode at bed time |

I have an alarm clock app on mine, dispenses with the need for a clock when the phone is docked, it's being charged anyway...

The alarm on android phones is a function of the clock app.
if you want to use android phones you should get used to the idea of using apps - for example this one may suit if you want to turn airplane mode on/off https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...b3VycGhvbmUiXQ.. - otherwise stick with your blackberry. |
