I am trying to connect the X-Box up to the Amp.

Sounds dead simple - RCA from a spare amp input to the white and red inputs on the SCART which also has a yellow cable for Video - but when I take out the original white and red cables and pop mine in I get nothing, the RCAs are OK as I was using them on something different. Anyone any ideas on that one?

Cheers

Well you are connecting it up the wrong way. You need to connect the red and white leads from the xbox (the ones that would usually go from the xbox to the scart) to the amp.

Does your amp support DD 5.1 sound?
If it does, it will have some form of digital inputs (either coaxial or optical).
The XBOX will probably have a digital output.
Just select the appropriate cable to connect from XBOX to amp digital.
If one is coaxial and the other is optical you will need to buy a converter (powered) available from Maplins and others - I have one and it works fine.

Following on from last post. Assuming your amp has 5.1 sound, you can connect using the advanced scart cable. This needs to be purchased at about £20. This provides an optical output which the xbox standalone doesn't have. The advanced scart cable is far from 'hifi' but is good enough for gaming. Connect the advanced cable to your xbox and TV scart in the normal manner. The use an optical lead top connect from the advanced scart to a spare optical connector on your amp.
Trust this helps,
Simon.
