cabling for a new HE system
I am a total newbie to this forum but have picked up lots of tips so far - cheers
I am having an extension built and want to plan for putting a plasma/lcd tv on one wall. The rest of the kit (not sure what to buy yet) will be at the opposite side of the room - approx 7m way with vertical drop. reading the forum it looks as though I need to run RGB plus audio as a minimu from the HE system to the back of the TV. I need to decide what cables to get into the ducting before the floor goes down so was wanting advice on the type of cable, how many to run and the type of connectors. is rgb enough or do i need scarts aswell. any advice greatly appreciated |

It is difficult to be specific on what cabling you need without knowing what kit you intend to use, some systems are more suited to certain types of connection than others. I would suggest that you have the duct installed under the floor but left empty, and with decent access at either end, so the relevant cabling can be pulled through when the equipment choice is finalised. This also gives you the added benefit of being able to add new cables/remove redundant ones when you decide to upgrade at a later date. Oh, and don't worry about the access points looking unsightly - there are many solutions you can use to completely conceal them, such as floor boxes, etc.
