American Bull Dog/Dogue De Bordeaux Cross

Last August, my family and I got an 8 week old puppy which was a cross between an American Bull Dog and a Dogue De Bordeaux (a French Bull Mastiff dog). Her father was the bull dog and her mother was the Bordeaux. We named her Peppa, as she grunted like a little pig when we first bought her, it was so cute. She is now just over a year and has been through the mill as my mum would say.

They are commonly called American Bull Dogue De Bordeaux.

I was just wondering if anyone else has a dog like mines or a full breed Dogue De Bordeaux? If so, please can you share your stories and opinions for this particular breed? I haven't met anyone who has the same dog or a similar one to me and I am interested to find out more.

I've not had one but understand they are pretty well known for growth issues due to the speed of growth, limited gene pool etc, whch can lead to heart problems too, sorry you've had a hard time, is she ok now?

My son's girlfriend's family had a DDB- sweetest temperment dispite all his health problems - including the worst hips on a dog still capable of walking I have ever seen

Lovely boy though - sorely missed.

We have an American Bulldog - he is one of the loveliest dogs I have ever had the pleasure to now. Soft as owt, but at the age of just 4 finding his voice in his new home - he came here with a strong chase instinct but despite this has learned to leave the two cats alone he now lives with. He does enjoy a bit of a tease and a chase but the cats keep him in his place! he will chase other cats out on the street into the woods but if he realises they are our two girls will stop running. He also likes chasing badgers and asking them if they want to play... Badgers are never impressed however
