Just seen a friend talking about Gabrielle. I remember she used to be huge for a while and had 2 really big albums. Where did it all go wrong? or what happened?

Really hope she makes it back.

Only song of hers I remember is Out of Reach and wasn't that used in a movie? I wasn't a fan though.

My favourite Gabrielle singles are:

Give Me A Little More Time
If You Really Cared
Sunshine
When A Woman
Should I Stay

She was a good artist, shame she seems to have disappeared.

Thats quite a late one in her career from the film Bridget Jones' Diary. I remember one from 1993 called Dreams.

I quite like Gabrielle. Her Greatest Hits was quite optimistically subtitled 'Greatest Hits Volume 1'. She's got a lot of work to do if she ever wants to release a Volume 2. I don't think she's had a single hit since then.

I love her! Dreams, Give Me A Little More Time, If You Ever and Walk on By are probably my favourite songs of hers.
She's been taking time out, raising her son (plus I seem to remember her and her mother were given custody of another relative's children?) but she's recording a new album at the moment, can't wait to hear it

I really liked Gabrielle's music. My favourite was her collaboration with East 17 "If You Ever". Love it.

She's had some real classics imo. Her greatest hits is a wonderful listen. I miss her!

Wiki

In April 2010, it was announced that Gabrielle had returned to the studio to work on her sixth studio album. Gabrielle stated in an interview the album will contain two collaborations, and she has been working with several new producers including Syience (Beyonce, Mary J. Bidge) and Naughty Boy (Emeli Sande) among others. She describes the album as being an "up to date" Gabrielle record.

It was revealed in the Sunday Mirror that Gabrielle will feature on a track from the forthcoming Naughty Boy album, 'Hotel Cabana'. The song, "Hollywood", written by Emeli Sande and produced by Naughty Boy, is about fame coming and going and will be released in November 2012.

According to Wikipedia, she released her Greatest Hits in 2001, then left it 3 years to release (a largely forgotten) follow up, then she left it a further 3 years and released another which flopped.

I never released she sold so well, both her album 'Rise' and the Greatest Hits went 4xPlatinum.

She has an amazing collection of music.

But live she has zero personality and cannot interact with an audience. It's all "Thank you!" before starting the next song.

Putting that aside, I cannot think of a similar UK soul star. Her albums are just ace.

I always found it odd how she disappeared overnight. Much like Dido.

Dreams is a fantastic song.

She is coming back this year

She has described her music as "dancey". How original Gabrielle? "rolls eyes"

Sounds like it'll be different to her usual stuff then!

Well for someone who established herself as an R&B/Soul artist which really made her stand out of so many British Female, she is really not doing herself no favours if the dance music is gonna be a go ahead. So for someone who led a path way of artists of today like Emeli Sande and Rebecca Ferguson, why not carry on doing what she set in stone? Ridiculous.

Dancy doesn't have to mean throwaway David Guetta type crap though, does it? Dancey could describe artists like the late Donna Summer, for example. I'd hope Gabriella would be more like that and less like the rubbish that has polluted the charts for the last year or two. I admit I won't get my hopes up though.
