Hey guys, I just caught up with the episode, and I'm totally at a loss in regards to the coaches and how to proceed with them in the game. It seems clear that they won't just be sitting on their arses all Summer, but I'm not sure how often they will be competing in competitions, or what exactly their game will be. Does anyone have any opinions on what should be done? There are obviously two options:

1. Scrap the coaches from the game, and give everyone the newbie that they chose as a back-up. If the mentors do then impact the game, points could potentially be awarded to their team-members.

2. Consider the coaches as seperate entries, and come up with a new scoring system for any events that they may compete in. I think this option could be a bit more interesting, but I don't know what would be a fair way to scale points, if they don't get the chance to compete for HoH, Veto etc...

Anyone have any opinions? I'll hold off from posting Episode 1 results until it's clear which way to proceed!

Unless anyone has any objections then, we'll intend to keep the coaches in play. Last seasons scoring system will remain in play. Once the coaches role is explained in full, I'll try to figure out a fair scoring system for them. (If it becomes clear that there's little they can do, we'll just scrap em!)

Scoring System
* Head of Household win - 20 Points
* Power of Veto win - 15 Points
* Survived an eviction vote - 10 Points
* Taken off block by another player - 5 Points

* Team competition win - 5 Points each
* America's Choice win - 10 Points
* Luxury competition win (individual) - 10 Points
* Luxury competition win (team) - 5 Points each
* Recieved luxury prize (no competition) - 5 Points

Just to confirm the difference, if a player wins a luxury competition for a prize, they earn 10 points. If a player is indirectly given a luxury prize, they earn five points. (So if they win something for dropping out of HoH, it's 5 points)

I've a bad feeling about Jenn (I have her in this!), I think she'll be out around week four and win nothing.

Me too, she doesn't know anything about the game and I think with this twist and because everyone is playing so hard from the start, she'll get lost.

A big scoring round for the debut. Willie starts well, winning both the team task and Head of Household, while Jojo and Shane also get points for Team Britney's competition win.

Team Janelle and Team Mike don't get points for the competition, because they didn't actually win, they just didn't lose!

Usually, Kara and Danielle would recieve 10 points for surviving eviction, but since they didn't survive a typical eviction vote, and since there was a 66% chance of survival instead of the usual 50% I decided to split the points.

Any points for the mentors in this round will be added on once their role becomes clearer.

So I've been thinking about how to score the Coaches, and after last weeks episode, it appears that apart from competing in a coaches competition every week, the coaches probably won't be doing all that much in there - at least stuff that would earn them points!

I still think we should incorporate them into the sweepstake though, so I'm thinking perhaps we just give them an entirely different leaderboard, and award points for stuff that their team does too. (As well as anything that they do) I think this makes it fairer, because it's so difficult to find a way to scale the coaches scoring system to the newbies scoring system!

Any advice or feedback would be welcome and encouraged! This is potentially what I'm thinking:

Coache's Scoring System:
20 - Coach Competition Win
10 - Coach wins prize by America's Choice
5 - Coach wins a luxury prize

10 - Member of Coaches Team wins Head of Household
5 - Member of Coaches Team wins Power of Veto
5 - Member of Coaches Team survives eviction vote

Obviously this will end up with some of the coaches getting huge scores at the end of the season, but if included in a completely different leaderboard, it doesn't matter. There may also be a lot of other reasons to award points later in the season, though as of now, I don't see them..

A low scoring round, but that was to be expected with no competition for the new players. I figured that gaining immunity from your coach is kind of the equivelent of someone using the Veto on you, so Ian gains 5 points, just like if a veto was used on him.

Britney is backtracked 10 points from Willie's HoH win in Episode 1. Dan doesn't gain points for Kara and Danielle surviving an eviction vote. It seemed unfair to give him 10 points when there was no way for him to not gain them!
