Defrosting bread in the microwave
By chance I didn't have any fresh bread in the kitchen, so I remembered I had a month-old loaf in the freezer.
I've never defrosted bread in the microwave before but it was a nice surprise. The bread tasted so lovely and fresh. Steam was coming off it as if it were freshly baked. ![]() From that moment on I always keep the bread in the freezer and defrost for extra loveliness. Anyone else do this? And don't say all the time.

No never if we forget to get one out of the feeezer we tend to toast a slice from frozen rather than defrost it.

I buy about 3 loaves every week and freeze them. Use from frozen, straight into the toaster.
For sandwiches, if you're making it in the morning for lunch, it's perfectly fine to make frozen sandwiches as it will defrost by the time you eat it. |

If I think there's a chance a loaf might go off before we can finish it, I always bung it in the freezer & use it for toast. |

Hmm usually I just take the bread out of the freezer when I want to use it.

Only ever have a few slices of "fresh" bread out.
The rest is in the freezer. 1 minute in the mic on 10% power defrosts it nicely without making it soggy. |
