Dallas

I guess this was asked a 1001 times, but is there any date known yet for the start up of the New Dallas in the UK and Ireland.

No date, other than starting in September on Channel 5.

I hope so, I'm holding off downloading it from torrents. I tend to only do that for US shows that aren't broadcast on UK TV. I do think September is too long to wait in this modern era.

There is a thread in the US forum but as it discusses the episodes when they air in the US (as 4 or 5 already have) it requires a thread on here for viewers not wanting to know much in advance.

Launch on Five is in September (there is a piece about it in the Express today that confirms this).

Also confirmed last week that a 15 episode series 2 has been commissioned as US ratings have been pretty good (though falling a bit since a big launch).

A bit?? They're falling big time!
Yes it's still doing fine, but it's still very worrying considering it hasn't balanced out yet and is still falling.
It went from TNT's no 1 show in week 1, to 3rd in 4

1 6.86 mill - 1.5 demo
2 6.86 mill - 1.5 demo
3 4.76 mill - 1.3 demo
4 4.08 mill - 1.1 demo
5 3.38 mill - 1.0 demo

I think there was talk of it being given consideration, depending upon how this panned out.

There's time yet. Although John Forsythe died 2 years ago.

Joan Collins and Linda Evans allegedly can't stand each other, but you only need Joanie anyway

Oh here we go again.

Those are overnights and as you well know its pulling in big time shifts.

The last one, in bold, is the episode broadcast on 4th of July, which isn't exactly renowned for being a big TV ratings night in the US. That said Dallas topped cable ratings by a wide margin and posted about the best demo figure of the day even beating some of the main US networks.

I know you don't like the new series, you never gave it a chance past the first episode so please stop trying to pretend its a flop when the ratings and TNT say otherwise.

C5 were keen to avoid the Olympics to give it the best possible chance of success.

September is a better time for launching a big show than the summer anyway. There'll be more interest from advertisers then too.

EVERY show increases it's numbers with live+3

It's falling fast and still has not bottomed out...it's very worrying.

I don't like the show but I'm still allowed to comment on it's ratings if I want.

It went from the number 1 show on TNT in the all important demo(Adults 18–49) to 3rd by it's 4th episode.

Question is, how low will it go?
Yes the 5th episode was on 4th of July so next week will increase, but if it doesn't TNT will no doubt regret renewing it so early

Its topped the night on cable EVERY WEEK since it started and has beat several of the main networks in the process. Its TNTs no. 2 drama, and on Wednesday it got the highest demo of the night on cable on an otherwise poor showing across the board for US TV.

If you want to comment on ratings then that's fine but at least tell the whole story or don't bother at all.

TNT are very happy with it. They said as much when the renewed it.

Actually it was beaten by a Big Bang Theory repeat that got a 1.2 and it tied with a Family Guy repeat that got a 1.0 (same as Dallas).

Even when it is shown on Channel 5, it will still be an American show!

But it's great! If you loved it years ago, it's just as good.

It is apparently going to get a good PR launch on Five with several of the cast coming over to do interviews etc.

This was likely part of the reason for the delay to September.

Some of the shows guaranteed to give these actors a major slot to plug the show over here (eg Loose Women) are off air until September. So it would be a lost opportunity if it went on screen in, say, August.

Yeah, seriously! I can happily deal with a Dynasty without Krystle - it only needs Alexis. Bring back Sable and Caress for her to battle with and I'm happy!

Still overall the most watched show.

The fact you are so desperate to paint it in a negative light says much. You don't like the show we got it, but don't try to portray it as a flop when TNT have already renewed it based on its strong performance.

Lets just say its a hit for TNT. Not the mega hit some anticipated but a hit and for its fans its a bloody good hour of TV.

Your too young to remember the original series but it wasn't an overnight smash. It wasn't until its second full season that it really started hitting gold week after week and the "Who Shot JR?" storyline was a result of CBS unexpectedly extending its run. That season should have ended with Jock being arrested for murder, hence why the two episodes in that two parter are set months apart.

You gave up on it week one. More fool you.

To be honest I still wouldn't call it a hit.....

Ratings have not stopped falling since it's premiere ... renewed to early imo
