MP'3 Players
I looking for an mp3 player for christmas, liked the look of the creative zen micro but they dont seem to be many in stock or totally out of stock! I dont want an i pod because they dont have very good battery life. This would be mine first mp3 player i want one with a screen like a then creative zen and decent memory.
Has anyone any suggestion of what I could get? |

Rio Karma. Great sound quality. Easy to use. Gapless playback. Wins on many counts. But what's your criteria? Jukebox only or album playback? Looks? Ease of use? Size? Music formats? Battery life? Radio? PC/Mac compatibility? Some players will be better suited than others.

IRivers HP140 has 40gb capacity, a FM radio, 16 hours battery life and is £100 less than the 40gb Ipod.
I recommend it. |

the new ones have a spec of 12 hrs, but not sure how much you get with typical use. i passed dixons the other day, and they were doing one for half price (£99 instead of £199) - either an iriver or a creative zen - not sure. might be worth having a look? Iain |

I bought a Philips hard drive player and have had no problems with it at all, battery life is excellent, lasts all day at work no problem. I have also found it user friendly, and the sound quality good as well. It still works after I dropped it in the bath.
My girlfriend has an MPIO hard drive player and has had nothing but trouble with it so steer clear of them. |

http://www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Produ...quicklinx=39tx Looks like both zens and iPods are whizzing out of stock in record time at the moment. I really ought to start my christmas shopping (gulp!) fay |

4th Gen 40gb iPod lasts 4hrs?
Something certainly not right there, I have a 4th Gen 20gb iPod and it's specified to last 12hrs, on my test of setting to half volume, no EQ, and shuffle, it played for over 13hrs. That's more than the specified. This was with the 3.0.1 software installed. I now get 3 days out of my iPod between charges and i use it for about 4-5hrs a day. Dan ![]() Oh, and by the way, you might want to read the BIG TEST in PCW magazine, 20 MP3 players tested. WINNER - iPod RUNNER UP - iPod Mini ![]() Dan |

also, far too expensive.
It's a known fact, the iPod is the best MP3 jukebox out there, read the magazines.... Also, regarding cases, i've just ordered a set of these: http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObje....0.1.1.0.1.0.3 Lovely! Dan |

I played with a Zen Micro at an expo recently - they just feel cheap and tacky. And I get at least 12 hours out of my 20gb iPod. |

Anyone who pays money for one will have done well and will not be dissapointed. It is one of the better players on the market. I know for a fact that amongst the 'Chav' sector of society, the must have xmas present this year is an ipod - I grew up with a lot of them and know what they and their brothers and sisters are asking for. And they can afford them - just like they can afford the latest mobile phones on £30 a month contracts. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers by making the link between 'Chav' and ipod. I was but speaking from experience. |

I still don't see the amazement with ipod. What makes it different from many other hard disk players. It plays music like the rest. End of Story.
