Alexandra Burke - Heartbreak On Hold
Im the first to critisize Alexandra for coming accross as big headed and she does do my head in with her attitude...BUT!! I think her new album speaks for itself
I think her new album deserves to be a massive success. I think it has a lot of fab tracks on there...I personally like all of them and dont skip 1 track. I think Heartbreak On Hold should have been released before Let it go. Also TONIGHT should deffinitly be a single. LOVE IT I give this album a big 5* interested to what people say to this?..dont comment unless you have heard the whole of HOH in full |

Yes I agree, its my favourite album of the year so far, I love the dance music, I think it suits her.
If it wasnt for it flopping I would hope that she would continue with that sound but I know she wont now. |

It's a brilliant dance/pop album. But sadly it suffered from the wrong singles and bad management/promotion. Alexandra's management didn't even manage to get one slot to promote the album on release week....coupled with the radio snub for no apparent reason and I'm not surprised it flopped....
But as a dance/pop album I think it's very very strong, there are some real gems like the title track, Tonight, Fire, Oh La La, Between The Sheets, Daylight Robbery on there, and her vocals are very very impressive. There are not many British stars out there at the moment with a voice like hers, and she really can deliver the material live....it's just a shame that she didn't get the fair shot she deserved with this album. |

Its an amazing album, completely filler-free. My favourite tracks are Love You That Much (everyone else seems to hate it though!), Heartbreak On Hold and Sitting On Top Of The World. Its just typical of me that as soon as I start to actually like Alexandra (i.e. Let It Go onwards), she starts flopping spectacularly
It's a shame, because I'd really like her to tour the album.

I think it's quite a good album. Tonight should definitely be a single.

Anyone notice - it's alright for someone to claim "It's an amazing album"...
But the minute someone claims "It's a rubbish album" they get told something like: "that's not fact, it's only your opinion" It's only alright to speak positively about anyone, and if you don't you're either "jealous" or a "hater". Just an observation

I just hate people using this phrase in general! Whether I say 'it's an amazing album' or 'it's a terrible album', it should be pretty obvious that its just an opinion, not a statement of fact! It shouldn't be necessary to include an 'in my opinion' disclaimer beforehand. It really winds me up!
![]() People always make sure to point out that it's "only your opinion"... But they never do so when someone says something positive, as if only positive opinions are fact, and negative ones are nothing more than "opinions" born out of jealousy... And as you said, everyone is obviously just staing their opinion, and shouldn't need to say so. Anyway don't want to hijack the thread.. Apologies

It's a solid dance pop album. It's such a shame that it isn't seeing the success that it deserves.

It's not the route she should be going down or the type of music she should be making, however it stands up very well against everything else in the charts at the moment and it should have been a huge success.

Sadly it is the flop of the year no matter how good it is.

Its awful and alexandra is better than this. She seriously needs to change direction next album and lay off the auto tune

I really like Alexandra, she has a great voice and is a fantastic performer. However for me this album simply isn't good enough there are a few great tracks and a lot of fairly sub-standard filler.

One of the best albums I've heard in a long time. It came at the right time in my life, which is why I still play it to this day.

I gave the album a go but I think it's simply awful! Nothing but generic autotuned dance trash that went straight in one ear, out the other for me. Honestly I could barely tell one track apart from another, they all sound the same (Sitting On Top Of The World is the only song that's marginally better than the rest), and she sounds like she could be any one of a dozen different singers - there's nothing distinctive about her voice on the album, probably because they've played around with her voice too much in post production. Dreadful album - IN MY OPINION!
![]() I think Alexandra is really talented and I like her fun, bubbly personality but I feel her talent is totally wasted on this formulaic dance tripe. I like her debut album much more as it has some really good songs like Bad Boys, All Night Long, Broken Heels, Bury Me, Gotta Go, You Broke My Heart, Hallelujah and The Silence is really good too. All these songs really show off Alexandra's great voice. I was looking forward to her second album but I can't bear it. Ah well. |

Probs the wrong route for Alex but still a solid dance album |

I prefer Overcome but this album is by far my favourite album this year and it deserves some success, it's a solid pop album with some potentially great singles, I think the title track should have been a single because it's probably the strongest on the album! I literally listen to the album every day

I agree. It's not a life changing masterpiece, but it's a solid pop album and it at least deserved a top 10 placing. I hope the next single helps her shift more copies.

What happened to all the tracks Alex recorded with Red1?

All Rico Love, RedOne, Fraser T Smith and more material that we don't know about was all mysteriously scrapped. So either RCA didn't want to pay for the songs, or they just weren't good enough (which is highly unlikely).
