A good link as well as that song was used in the film Beautiful Thing that she, Tameka (Kim), Anna Karen (Aunt Sal), Sophie Stanton (DCI Jill Marsden), all starred in, created and written by one of Corrie's writers, Jonathan Harvey.

He had written the play of BT, then some years later, adapted it into a film. The first play had Sophie Stanton play Linda's character, Sandra, and Diane Parish (Denise Fox) played Tameka's character, Leah, who are now both screen sisters in EastEnders.

Actually a handful of songs by The Mamas and Papas was used in the film. Aunt Sal was her neighbour, as was Kim (who was the Mama Cass fan) and her mum, and DCI Marsden was her co-worker and mate at the pub.
there was a play?? wow was that onstage or on tv?

If she applied for the X factor, she would be invited to finals night

Just watched Friday's episode. A brilliant nod to the film Beautiful Thing. Loved it

Let's hope that the producers never consider Shirley & Phil performing the duet "Je t'aime"

Yes!

Karaoke night at the Vic (the latest Alfie scam).

Shirley and Phil singing Je t'aime, as you brilliantly suggest.

Derek: Grease Is The Word

Lola: Lola

Billy: medley: Keep On Running-By The Time I Get To Finchley

Christian and Syed: Any Old Iron

Cora: Mack The Knife

Tamwar: Clevor Trevor

Dot: Don't Worry. If There's A Hell Below, We're All Gonna Go

Kim: Brown Sugar

Jean: Up On The Roof

Patrick: I Pity The Poor Immigrant

I think she was very good; she won't make a professional singer though.

I love this movie and thought it was an excellent song for Shirley to sing! Dream a Little Dream of Me is a beautiful song, and I thought it was appropriate for the way she is feeling over her loss of Heather! She did a wonderful job singing a cappella! Singing without background instruments isn't easy. Great job, Linda!

Oh, I don't know.

My old Dad used to do it all the time.

Although, I noticed that he never seemed to know more than the first line of any song, which he would nonchalently render, in the style of Dean Martin, before disappearing down the street on his way to the pub.

His favourite for such moments was: Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone.

Or, for occasions when his adjournment to the boozer followed a slight family fracas: Who's Sorry Now?

He would have loved Shirley!

Perhaps, when Ben's gruesomly slaughtered cadavre is disovered, as it inevitably will be (chastised within an inch of his life by Phil....just the wrong inch), Shirley will burst into a pub-style rendition of: Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime.

I would also like to see Shirley give us her interpretation of See What The Boys In The Back Room Will Have.
