Humax Freesat+HD

Hi folks,

I'm not only a newbie but also near enough PC illiterate so please be gentle.

Ive just ditched my Sky box in favour of the Humax Freesat in order to reduce my monthly costs. I've a question relating to recording.

With the Sky box I could programme it to always go back to the start of the broadcast when I pressed record. So far with the Humax box I can only record from when I switch the programme on.

Is there a way to programme the box to go back to the start?

Unfortunately the Foxsat will only record from the moment you press record even though it is recording what you've watched before you press record. (if that makes sense)
It's probably got something to do with how it timeshift records but I'm no expert, it's always puzzled me why the timeshift isn't added to the record.

Basically you can't. Moral is if you fancy it set it to record.

It's actually possible to copy the time shift buffer file to a PC but you need to install custom firmware and be familiar with networking PC's.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it was probably the case for I couldn't find the facility in the instructions nor a hint via google.

Most likely reason is the timeshift buffer file is recorded without encryption even for HD channels. If you could rewind the buffer and record the buffer it wouldn't have the required encryption. Arranging to encrypt the buffer is probably not that easy to engineer.

You can actually stream the timeshift buffer file across a network and watch HD a little behind real time using the custom firmware.
