Today I got a dvd which is a daewoo DV-500ES and for the life of me I don't know how to set it up??, I know I sound daft but hey..

I have a Bush tv 2034T with one scart socket and a hole for the aerial. I also have a video recorder and Sky.
In the scart socket is my video recorder, in the video recorder scart socket is my TV and Sky connection.
I also have brought an extra 3 way scart socket so I should be able to put my dvd in the extra scart socket.
This I did but when I turned the tv on, all I got was a the screen moving side to side like a screen saver on a computer with no volume..

I hope you understand what I am trying to say, all I wish to know is how to set my dvd player up which will then work with my tv, video and sky?.
I have read the instructions over and over and still don't know what to do, can you help me??.

Thanks Guys xxx

OK here we go......simple stuff first.........

Scart leads..........

Sky box VCR out ---------> VCR in/out (from the manual find the socket which is input and output, there may only be one scart)
Sky box TV out -----------> scart 3 way connector socket 1
DVD TV out ----------------> scart 3 way connector socket 2
Scart 3 way connector --> TV scart

Now RF aerial

Main RF aerial -------> VCR RF in
VCR RF out -----------> TV RF in (aerial socket)

If the 3 way connector is remotely switchable then you must set it to socket 1 for Sky (and VHS) and set to 2 for DVD
If it is not 'settable' it will react to devices sending it a signal - turning one on or pressing play on VCR or DVD.
This will enable you to watch Sky by setting TV to AV
If you play a VHS tape it will overwrite sky picture on this same AV setting.
Press stop on VCR and picture will revert to Sky.
Turn on DVD player, press play and DVD will show in picture - still on AV setting.

you can still select terrestrial TV by pressing 1,2,3,4 etc.

To record terrestrial TV set you VCR to 1,2,3,4 etc
To record Sky set VCR to the scart socket you connected Sky to on the VCR. This will be AV1 or EXT or.....something similar.

Try this and see how you get on.

Have a good night,

Rgds,
Scorp.
